1990’s Alfa goodness... SZ
Discussion
I was watching Harry Metcalfe reviewing the Alfa SZ recently and decided that here we have a car that floats my boat a great deal. It’s got “let’s have an argument about if it is awesome or awful” looks, a super lovely V6 that doesn’t have so much power that you can’t use it and rear drive, along with touring car suspension taken from the Alfa 75 race cars and a super cool interior with “Zagato Design” on the steering wheel.
The problem with trying to buy an SZ is that there just aren’t many about. I like to try and get low mileage examples of cars that I buy and so a few were discounted right away. After a bit of research I ended up settling on the very car that Harry had reviewed in his video.
Here are a few pictures of it:

It’s a stunning looking thing and I can’t wait to get hold of it. The car has an amazingly low mileage at the moment - about 3500 miles or so - and seems to be in great shape.
I think that the 4C will also end up as a bit of a classic later down the line - those cars seem amazing value at the moment!
Are there any other SZ owners on PH nowadays?

Have always like these. I had 2 x 164 V6 Lussos so I appreciate the engine!
Was that one the later four valve motor? It will be interesting to see how this earlier version measures up to that level of aural excellence!Simply a stunning car. This is a car I would pop to the garage just to look at and drink in all the details - the triple headlights, gorgeous wheels, tall slabby sides and then I’d open the door, possibly with a slight creak, smell the Brut meets Italian leather interior and smile to myself with a warm fuzzyness inside as only a petrolhead can understand.
I’ve had a soft spot for these since I was about 13 & they were launched. Largely discarded as not fast enough or ugly (!) back then. I am very happy to see one here - i saw Harry’s review when he posted the video and was glad he’s also a fan.
Well done sir.

I've always liked the look of these, I don't understand the hate for them, I don't even really understand why the looks are considered radical or controversial, it's just a good. solid, rather Teutonic looking design.
Good to see the paintwork looks to have since been sorted on it, in the video even from a distance it looks like someones been going at it with a pan scourer!
