Long time lurker, occasional poster

Just into Yr 2 ownership of a TT 8J late 2010.

Decided that having sorted some electrical gremlins and had 6 months of trouble free motoring Id invest some time and attention in the bodywork. There you go - one machine polish and ceramic coat

Living close to a track I'm keen to try out a track day before the close of the year (COVID permitting) so off to find a good approved helmet -any suggestions?

What next is my question. Stage 1 tune ? Tuned Exhaust? Keen to keep this somewhat of a 'Q' car - quietly going about its business with a few hidden surprises.

Open to suggestions

Always liked these and that colour is great. Did a few passenger laps at donnington in a friend's 3.2 and was very impressed with the way it handled.

Before anyone else says it: there is no such thing as a stage 1 tune, basically you are either looking for a remap and some engine mods or just a remap but the whole stage 1, 2 ,3 thing doesn't actually mean anything. Alot of YouTubers seem to mention it though and some firms use it so they can price upgrade packages

In terms of helmet demon tweeks have a good selection of open faced track day helmets but alot of people (including me) just use a motorcycle helmet. Motorbike helmets which meet the regulation start from about £30 quid, plenty of good options around £150 and the sharp rating gives a good idea of level of protection

Not sure it’ll ever be much of a Q car with bright red side skirts...

Track day helmet for a road car? I’d suggest an open face helmet. Don’t go for a full motorbike closed face type.

Excellent clarity on the stage 1 / 2 / 3 thing - thanks

I was wondering about the red optional side steps myself !

Thanks for the helmet comments
