Did you know that most breakdown companies steer clear of cars over 23 years old? (Includes AA, GreenFlag)

This means that trying to get UK or European breakdown cover is actually very tricky.

There must be people out there with "classic" cars who are covered - so, what do you use?

Thanks

Ben
PS. I know RAC will cover, but for an outrageous premium.

I think we use Britannia and we have a few classics. To date they have picked us up several times!

My classics are insured with Footman James, and the policy includes full UK and European breakdown cover. I also have a RAC policy, and they have never asked what cars I want to cover - it is a personal policy to me so covers whatever car I am travelling in. The RAC didn't quibble when my 36 year old Bristol boiled its battery on Friday night in York though, and recovered me home to Wiltshire without problem. Their European cover though does cost extra for older cars.
