Hi, I'm a long term lurker on the forums, but after a good friend posted his car on here and got some great discussion going I thought I'd see if there was any love for my car, or if anyone else has experience of one or tips to improve it.

Its the 2.0TSI, but has been tweaked by Shark to give it 250bhp, which is more than enough for the front wheels! Michelin PS4s have improved the situation a lot but its definitely not the sharpest handling car, even if it does everything else well.

I'm lead to believe that there were only 115 of this shape and engine combo made and only half are estates. Apparently it was nigh on impossible to sell a 2.0 petrol turbo in 2012. The quad pipes are standard, shared with the V6.

I bought this over 3 years ago from the original owner and think it still looks quite good! For an 8 year old car it cleans up to as new condition.

Great engine. Was it 197bhp (200PS) originally, as in the Octavia vRS? I had a vRS 2L petrol estate DSG from new in 2010 for 7 years. Loved it!

These are rare as you say. Didn’t know they had the quad pipes. Thought that was just the V6.

Very nice car. A brilliant all-rounder I imagine.

More pics please and inside shots too!

We are on our 3rd Superb Estate - all boring 1.6 diesels. But for what we need to do, we cant find anything better. We considered a Volvo V90 but it's smaller, much more expensive and less economical - we got over 60mpg 4 up on a run to Sussex and back 2 weeks ago. Fantastic car and very reliable as well. The only fault in 8 years has been one failed satnav.

i not seen any everywhere, pretty much a niche car, considering the SUV craze, not a strong seller. .Looks good

Yes, same engine with the DSG. Apparently no manual option as with the V6. The engine is great, and quite surprised me after the remap. Its fun because nobody expects it to be any quicker than an average TDI.

I had wanted a manual but the DSG was good enough but is probably my second least favourite aspect of the car (except maybe the less than agile handling). Its good as Autoboxes go, but I'm just a manual fan!

Overall it is a great car. I think 4x4 would make it, but that wasn't a choice with the 2 litre. Only other downside is middle rear seat is a bit small.

The spec is brilliant with the pano roof.

I'll post more pics soon...just got a new phone, so bear with me!

Its been fault free and well made too! However, I've never broken the 40mpg barrier and most the time average less than 30mpg. Will do 35mpg on normal 70 and a bit motorway run.

It's been a while since this thread was active, but I was curious how the OP got on with the car longer term? I am looking at buying one of these and was concerned about timing chain issues.

Many thanks for any constructive feedback.

I know this is an old thread, but the plates stand out to me, what area is a plate starting J from? I don't remember ever seeing one before.

A quick search shows it's on 109k miles at the MOT last year.
No advisories on the last 5 MOTs.
Last V5C issued in 2017 so probably still with the OP.

We still have ours, now on 103,000 miles. 62mpg to Colchester and back at the weekend. Apart from routine servicing it's had a belt and water pump change and we had to fit a new Ad-Blue tank last year, the only actual repair we have had to do to it. Apparently all VW/Audi cars have the same problem but it's a cheaper fix on the Skoda.

If you need a large estate there is literally nothing better. They used to be really good value but they seem to have got relatively more expensive in the last few years. Fantastic cars.

such a shame that VW held these cars back spec and power wise. Why the Octavia vRS didn't get an awd petrol version is so annoying, but I guess they didn't want it beating the Golf R and Audi's...
