My first 911 - 997.1 4s w Aerokit 2007
Discussion
So I must have got to the age to waste money on cars, as an avid car nut my whole childhood (like a nerd on car stats) I never really could justify a toy in my adult life. Then Covid hit so I thought I better buy one in case I die. lol.
History to now:
2000: Mini 1L tuned
200?: Saxo VTR - had been in a crash I didnt know about
2009: 1994 1.2l clio - borrowed
2010: moved to Australia
2011 GFs Honda Jazz
2013: Mazda 6 wagon new
2020: Porsche 911.
2020: Jeep GC new (diesel) blacked out - good for driving on the beach in Aus.
It was pretty much an impulse purchase. Saw on web Fri, bought Saturday.
The car is 3 owner but a collector owned it for the first 12 years and it is currently on 34k. yes. 34k in 13 years. I know some people say this is bad but the car is mint.
We will see if it bore scores but all good for now. I plan to keep it long term so hopefully I wont lose too much on it but cars cost way more in Aus as less supply. The car was $270k new! That's 150k sterling, in 07!
Really enjoyed it soo far. It is an auto but I actually prefer this and I was always a manual person. The gearbox is a merc product but meant to be bullet proof. The car is pretty neutral and 4wd means you are hard pushed to feel the limit on the road. I don't think I will track it as they arent that good on track and might as well keep it mint. That means I might get a trackday car in the future....
I have had a full major service, plus battery, lower arms and coils when I bought it as after the first owner the second hadn't done it! Crazy when it had full Porsche history before. .
The car is optioned with:
metallic paint
turbo wheels
aerokit
headrest emboss
park assist
tiptronic
tel module
extended nav
floor mats!
What you reckon?

Gorgeous. I sold these used for several years - only ever sold one factory aero kitted 997 and it was in Guards. Was probably one of my favourites. Not without potential issues, but you've already highlighted the main one. Get it scoped, if you haven't - get a specialist with Durametric to print out a rev range report at the same time, it's often a good indicator of the life it has lived so far.
They are truly fantastic cars though - enjoy!
