Skoda Octavia VRS

My new 'Do it all daily'
After a year or so with a rather drab and depressing auto 420d xdrive I managed to get a good deal on a PX for this slightly less depressing taxi.
It's a car I plan on dragging around Scotland on adventures and hope it to be an enjoyable/reliable/safe place to spend many an hour.
I have added a couple small things already and have a small pile of parts building under my stairs - Spacers, new rubber, rear tints and a re-map are in the near future. Nothing too serious but hopefully just improve an already quite enjoyable big bus!

Great car, petrol/diesel? I’ve had my 2013 TSI for about 5 years now. Only mod I’ve bothered with is mudguards! Certainly never felt it needed a remap, DSG in manual mode on twisty roads, auto everywhere else.
Amateur error - It's a diesel manual car. Can't believe I left out that info.chrismarr said:

Daft laddie question, if they've both got approximately the same power, and AWD, is there a huge difference in terms of it being depressing? Both cars appear to be on par with each other! Not that I'm a big fan of BMWs but waking up to a dirty white Skoda on most mornings must be a little bit more depressing than the BM option! Nah not daft at all - on paper they do seem very similar although the Skoda is FWD and manual compared to the auto BM.The BMW never felt half as quick, it was very much an uninspiring car on the road - Sure the interior was nicer and felt a bit more upmarket but it never ever got me excited when driving it. I was maybe a bit naive buying the model I did in Xdrive form and expecting it to be more interesting.
Plus the Skoda fits the big daft dog a bit easier

In my experience they’re certainly not exciting and I never looked back at mine lovingly after parking it in but they’re just bloody good cars. Mine did everything I asked of it without issue. Even had some good drives to Wales in it with mountain bikes slung in the back.I had loads of stick because it was a Skoda, but I really liked it. I did contemplate leasing a DSG petrol estate when I opted out of the company car scheme because there was some cracking deals to be had.
