Quelle surprise! I've taken on another old Citroen...
Discussion
As it turns out, the C6 was a dry run. This is the real thing - a 1973 Citroen SM. Being that it's me what bought it, it's the least desirable, worst-spec SM there is (because I am a beggar, and therefore cannot be a chooser). 3-speed slush-box; stupid federal front end, and a whole heap of rust. That said, it does have the 3.0L engine with triple Webers, and it's only done 49k miles.

And it's an SM. Way I see it, it's win-win.
I'm in a bit of a quandry about how to attack this, from a 'sharing the journey' POV. Normally I'd just write 'blog' posts on here, or RR, or PH, or whatever. I tend to do them because, being selfish for a minute, other enthusiasts can give you that shot of confidence or morale to keep plodding on when the chips are down. I've got a terrible memory, so they also serve to remind me what I did, almost like I'd written a diary.
With this car, however, I'm almost tempted to try the YouTube approach, like coldwarmotors, or Ian's HubNut. I would imagine I'm very not-watchable, but I know I'd watch an SM-on-a-budget resto video, and I think others would too. I'm a complete novice at all that stuff, however. I also don't have enough time (but then who does?) And I've got tonnes of other project cars I'm supposed to be doing....and customer cars, which pay for mine (and the roof over the family's head etc.)

As I've said, you need to document on here. Do the YouTube stuff if you want alongside, but document it here as a diary, plus you can't show all the real intricate stuff in detail, on YouTube, when you fabricate X or Y and people enjoy that element of your blogs.
That's a really good point around the detail.Ive found your other threads some of the best on here, admire your commitment to the gallic motors and purely selfishly I would say it's be a real shame if you didn't document your adventures with this one.
Whatever you decide - chapeau on the purchase of the SM. what a car.

I love your choice. Kudos and look forward to hearing about how it goes. And it's an SM. Way I see it, it's win-win.

HubNut has got some How-To videos on youtubing at HubNotes:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD12T5lQiHc0hirIt...
At the end of the C6 thread a PHer said you had an engaging, readable style. You could probably transfer that across to YouTube.
I watched the Tyrrell's Classic Capri 3000 GT XLR video lastnight. Someone commented that one comes out from Tyrrell's and Harry Metcalfe's videos is the passion. If you've the passion that should hopefully come across.
