Went and test drove a 2003 745 at the weekend. Picking it up on Wednesday evening.

I am sure you will be laughing at my madness, but it looks to be a "minter" whose owner is almost as mad as me in wanting things to be perfect.

Every single things works as it should, including cooled seats and all 5 of the electric window blinds.

Will try to get a petrol station shot on the way home!!

Nice 745 OP....I know who you bought it off (he’s a mate of mine) & he acknowledges his OCD for cars & is very “particular” when it comes to looking after his cars hehe

I hope you are aware or tested for the N62 valve stem oil seal problem. (Leave it idling for a few mins then rev it - cloud of smoke = seals bad)

Well, no smoke was seen and the seller said he has seen none while he has owned (and he is an honest guy so I believe him).

I am hoping they have been done. From what I have read, it usually occurs by 100k,or soon after.

Thanks. Full BMW history until the last one which was at a well respected indy.

It drove very well indeed, apart from a sticky calliper which is being sorted before I collect.

Fingers crossed!

I wouldn't worry about it even if the seals were worn unless smoke was excessive. My 650i had slightly worn seals and didn't burn through that much oil, for me it wasn't worth worrying about.

That's a nice barge. I'm well jealous of your ventilated seats smile

I was only joking.

Sounds like you’ve bought from a good owner so less risky than many out there. I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Congrats OP! Looks very well kept cosmetically.
I've had one for 6 years and only spent £12k on borkage hehe
Currently writing up my thread, any issues feel free to give me a shout I pretty much know these inside out now, done all of the dreaded jobs, engine out etc.

What's the vin breakdown?
Looks like you've got comfort seats with perforated leather due to front seat cooling, but comfort rear seats without adjustment confused

I had a 2003 e66 760li.

I did approximately 4000miles in 2-3 years before I lost my bottle and sold it last year.

Apart from random electrical gremlins that would come and go (all battery related I think), nothing serious broke.

Absolute peach of an engine. It really needed a few revs to get going, it's a heavy old turd! I could just never gel with the slushbox.

I averaged 17mpg which I didn't think was too bad.

Oof. I had a 2005 facelift 750 for nearly 6 years, paid £5500 for it and sold it in December for £3500.
Only borkage was aforementioned valve stem seals which i repaired myself along with timing cover gaskets for around £500
Overall it was a fine car and I enjoyed it.

Lovely. Like many of the Bangle designs, I feel the look of these has improved with age. A proper dignified car inside and out, I hope you get many miles and years of enjoyment out of it.
