Hi all, picked myself up a 370 this week, but might as well do a short history first!
Started out in an E30 316i Touring which I sadly have no pics of, and sadly didnt appreciate as much at the time as I would now. One of those cars where at the time it wasnt cool enough for me but now Id kill to have back. Sold it to a guy for effective peanuts and he wrote it off.
Next up was my 118d msport. Felt flash at the time and I really enjoyed the small community these cars had. Lots of little mods over the 12 or so months I had it and a had a nice day at santa pod with the babybmw guys. Sadly wasnt much of a photographer back then, not that I am now hah..

I sold the BM to fund something a bit faster. Would have loved a 130i or 135i but couldnt get the insurance, so hopped into a mk2 ST. Again, got into the modding habit with this, kept it all go faster gear rather than pretty bits though, it was always going to be a Focus at the end of the day.

I had it at about 275bhp to the wheels when it went after a few months to fund another direction..

The ST became a bit anti-social with pops and bangs and the likes which were fine on a country lane but a bit embarrassing driving home in the early hours. Id always loved the design of the Scirocco since the concept and decided Id pick up a sensible diesel for work duties and something fun as a project. Happened to spot the S13 parked up in a farm and it had been there for a while and took it for a steal. I ended up putting thousands into it with HSD suspension, new wheels, Nardi interior, exedy bits and lots of engine work to get it sweet but then a change in my life situation forced me to let go as I just didnt have anywhere to store it. It ended up going for a pittance but I was more gutted about having to let it go. I found out last week it was recently parted out and the shell sent to car heaven.
After this I picked myself up another Scirocco in a sweet spec. 2.0 TSI DSG with all the options.

Kept this one for nearly a couple of years, which was a record for me at this point. It was great. Perfect every day car and fun when I wanted it, though I found the DSG a bit boring for spirited driving and was really missing the manual.
At this point I bit the bullet and decided to accomplish a childhood dream of having my own WR blue STI.

Fears over the chocolate engines and the questionable maintenance habits of previous owners 'forced' me to order a brand new one as a birthday present to myself. The whole buying new process and following the shipping etc was good fun but I cant see myself ever buying new again. Too expensive haha.
This was my pride and joy for nearly four years, loved every second in it, never skipped a beat and never failed to make me smile. All the performance you could ever need on a b-road though the standard exhaust setup is a bit muted I feel. Never changed it for warranty reasons and for fear of ending up like the ST. Sadly, last year changed circumstances for a lot of people and I had to let it go. The plan was for it to be a lifer and wheel it out for fun and something else for every day but just wasnt to be.
Had to find something else that was cheap, reliable, but fun and interesting. I thought Id try out a little hot hatch as Id never really had anything small before. This all lead me to the Peugeot 208 GTI Peugeot Sport. I drove it back to back with a regular GTI and the difference was night and day.

Car has been great, hasnt skipped a beat, and way faster down a b-road than you would ever expect. Makes a decent noise, costs f-all to run (but a lot to service, fyi) - so cant really fault it. However, as capable as it was it never really stirred me emotionally.
Found myself idly scrolling the classifieds recently and test driving all manner of things trying to find something that made me smile. Tried m240i's, Boxster, Jag XK, AMG C class etc, and they all had their pro's but nothing that really struck me emotionally. I hadnt even considered a 370 - more likely, forgetten they exist like everyone else, but happened to see one at a dealer when I was looking at something else. Had a sit in it, a little drive, and I was sold.
Long story short, picked it up on Friday, and took it up into the hills.

Im really loving it so far. And so glad Ive to find something which can relight my automotive passion a little after a tricky year. Its a 2016 Nismo Mk2 which is currently standard save for the exhaust which I think is Injen, I havent been under to check yet, but for my money sounds ace.
Got out the Manchester cars and coffee this weekend and planning to have a summer of shows, government guidelines permitting, so hopefully Ill see some of you out there.

I have a small list of things I want to sort or add to it, but going to be taking it slowly. First up I need to get hold of a piggyback unit to add carplay functionality to the archaic infotainment, then some minor interior bits like the seats which wear terribly on these, replace the manky alcantara on the steering wheel, in the future a proper ATB LSD and then Ill see where the winds take me.
Thanks for sticking with it, would love to hear from other owners, especially if there are any bits I need to look out for.

Always wanted a 350/370z, and might do so after my GT86.
Can definitely recommend the below if Chester’s not too far away for you -

A great write up and car history.
I'm a bit similar to you and I've had a S14a 200SX and I've currently got a 370Z Roadster!
I love your 370Z Nismo big time(it looks really good in red I reckon).
The 370(and 350) don't get much love on here for some reason sadly.
Enjoy yours.

Thanks a lot. I think its mainly because for UK use they are bit of an odd choice? Priced strong when new and didnt really keep up with refreshes the same way others have. I mean, coming from an STI with effectively a 15 year old engine I cant really complain too much haha. Just the s

I used to work with the/a previous owner of your 370z. Lovely car. Enjoy! :-)
Oh - any juicy details I should know? Do you know the provenance of the exhaust and if any other work was done? Thanks.Om said:
Nice. Don't see many Nismo in red.
Welcome to the club. Very little seems to go wrong. Went out for a run at the weekend in my GT - people are always keen to chat, ask about the car etc:

Yeah I was quite pleasantly surprised to have caught a bit of attention with it. Makes slipping back into the scene a bit more fun I suppose with other people interested too.Looks awesome in red, dont think i recall ever seeing a red one! Have fond memories of my mates modded 350z, it had the later dual intake Nissan engine in it and was a really good thing with a few mods!
Because of that car i've always been fond of seeing 350's and 370's, yours looks a peach, enjoy!

Thanks all, nice to have something with such a positive reception!
Stuck my head under it and it does still seem to be the powerflow, its embossed into the silencers, nice.
Re the backroads, Im still adjusting to it and learning it but so far Ive noticed that the traction control comes in very early, seems quite nervous. And on turn in sometimes the front gets a bit light, doesnt communicate as much as Id anticipate through the wheel. Might be just because Im used to the last two cars being a lot more light on their feet than this, might be the tyres, might be my driving style. Just something to adjust into for now.

Lovely looking motor!
I've been on the hunt for a tidy one for a while but no such joy, I was burning a hole in my pocket and went for a Melbourne red M235i in the end (purchased last week)
I'm from Macc too so if you ever fancy a cat & fiddle thrash they give me a shout. I'm on Instagram - TobyTobias
In the meantime I'll keep an eye out for you on the silk road
