Old Mother MDMA. Fabia 1.0 TSI
Discussion
I can't see this thread lasting long or having many updates. Just thought I'd throw it up to show you my mum's new Fabia. She will be 80 next year, but still very active and drives every day. This was dropped off 2 days ago. Dealer had a problem taxing it when she went to collect it, so they delivered it in person (with a large bottle of Moet). Fair play to RRG Skoda in Bolton.
Anyway, she wanted a small engine car with a proper handbrake! The new Fabia that is out soon all have electronic handbrakes, so she got one of the last stock cars that they had.
Petrol blue, 1L 3 pot turbo engine, no options, full tank of petrol and she's really happy with it. It was £13.5k on the road, which I don't think is bad for a brand new car. 2 years free servicing and 3 years breakdown cover.
She doesn't have a phone or a computer, so updates will only ever be from me.
Usual dealer prep to it (nothing at all), so this morning I've snow foamed it, clayed all over, removed all traces of the protective sticky foil, polished, sealed, waxed and ceramic coated it for her. A really nice metallic fleck to it in the sun.

I still think the manual handbrake has its place. I got caught out by a road closure on a single track road yesterday and, rather than risk getting stuck on the soft verges doing a hundred-point turn, I just hauled on the handbrake and gave the wheel a nudge. With a squeal of tyres I completed a 90° turn in the length of the car, leaving only a small shuffle to go back on my way.
First time in a 20-year driving career that I've felt a handbrake turn was the most logical and reasonable thing to do!

Any plans for a remap? decat? :-)
Looks very nice and good job with the paintwork.
It's my mum's car! 80 next year so not that bothered about remapping now Looks very nice and good job with the paintwork.

I see APR do a stage 1 to 140bhp on 98 RON. Be quite nippy once done.
