Hi folks, am new to PistonHeads and looking for help /advice. After throwing away my wheelchair following a stroke and now being the user of almost all my faculties (physical at least !!) i am reading
about kit cars etc but don,t want to jump in the deep end just yet so my plan is this,I. I have just purchased a 1966 beetle rolling chassis with old style V5 and fitted with a Fiesta XR2 engine . By coincidence I also have an old Covin shell ,on which I intend extending the wheelbase to fit the unaltered beetle chassis (you,ve probably heard this hundreds of times and know where i,m going) I seem to remember some talk about notifying DVLA about engine change on beetle then later telling them about change of body style . I can remember something about having to take taking pics of beetle with reg no. then doing the deed.
Is it really as simple as that or am I missing something ?

Sorry this is so long winded and thanks in advance for any advice

I do not think that it is that simple these days and you may be looking at an IVA test for a body change.

If you don't alter the beetle chassis then no IVA required. If you do what most do and shorten the beetle chassis to suit, then yes IVA is required.
