I’m currently sitting in a McDonalds passing some time whilst my new Jimny Commercial has its rear windows tinted so I thought I would start a thread on it.

I was lucky to purchase one of the new Jimny models when they were introduced in 2019, but due to a change in circumstances we sold it after a year (not for a large profit like they are attracting now unfortunately). We always wanted to replace it when we were financially secure again and so I have been in constant contact with the local dealer, and thankfully managed to buy one of the two Jinmys from their allocation. The fact it’s a two seater was fine as its just my wife and I (and a dog). As has been reported on PH, the change to LCV was done by Suzuki to bypass emission penalties on the 2019 car based Jimny.

Unfortunately we had no choice in terms of colour and I was really keen to avoid white as it’s my least favourite (kinetic yellow or black was my preferred option)….but of course it came in white. I have to say its growing on me and will look better when the rear windows are tinted. One of the dealers previous customers had their white car wrapped in orange with a black roof and having seen some pictures it looks amazing, so there is always that option.

At 6ft the first thing I did was remove the rear load guard as it seriously restricts seat movement, and I will have to modify the mounting bracket as it would make an ideal dog guard. The only other issue is a flashing tyre pressure warning message, which the dealer hasn’t been able to disable as it requires a special tool and updated software (apparently this has been ordered).

The list price is £20k but thankfully as a business I can reclaim the VAT; there have been some opportunistic dealers pre-registering their allocation and attempting to sell them for £25k, but I’m not sure how much success they will have with that.

For my wife and I it’s a feel good car; I love the way it looks and its “quirky” driving style, but it’s definitely not a long distance car. I will update with some pictures when I have access to my laptop.

You just prompted me to search used Jimny's to see what kind of money they are going for.... Wow! £25-30k. How much were they new?

I thought this was going to be about a new ad for them on tv, but then I realised the ad was a few years old! Must have been watching too much Youtube
I do like them as they are cool looking little things, we don't get the black ones down here but we do get the Army green coloured ones.
Some people I work with have ordered them, but I think they have been waiting a long time. I read about there being a 5 door one coming soon to.

The SZ4 was £16,500, so they have gone up by a huge amount!

Doesn't a commercial vehicle have to have side windows that are non see through, my Discovery Commercial had mouldings that were on the inside but completely impenetrable.

Can the rear seats be retrofitted easily? Nice little wagon.

Great little machine!

Are the speed limits the same on NSL single and dual carriageways?

Apparently the mounting points are there for the seats so it would really easy to fit them, although there may be insurance implications?
