Pug 1.4 HDi 207 - Refresh and be gone........
Discussion
I seem to have ended up with a 207 in "resale gray" not a long term keeper just to clean up - if it's any good it'll go to a family member as a first car (cost plus any expenditure to get it up to scratch) If it's not it'll go rapidly to auction (and I hope I'll cover my costs).
Note to Moderators - Not a 4 sail fred - just some entertainments for me and anyone who is silly enough to read it.
Background
It was going to WBAC for £250 - because the owner just bought a brand new Vauxhall (don't ask me why) and he just wanted a hassle free sale with zero comeback. However because of the mileage discrepancy they chipped the owner another £50 when he took it to the local reception place and he told them they could stick it up their ASS.
So I bought it for the original WBAC offer which he was happy with and as we go back 25 plus years he knows I will not give him any grief it turns out to be an utter hound..............
Good bits
103,000 miles (last MOT pass from Jan says 120,000 (cos Kwik fit are idiots and I bet I'll have fun sorting that out)

FSH up to 81,000 - Kwik Fit have been looking after it since then (not sure that's a plus but at least someone has done something)

2 owners from new (2007 to 2013 and 2014 to today)

It's straight and runs and drives (currently "venting" reason below)
Everything electrickery wise works........................... TDADTS
Bad bits
It's a bit rough round the edges
Lacquer peel on the mirrors (TADTS)

Interior is errr an interior (needs a good clean along with all the shuts)

Some trim needs fixing

It'll need some mopping

Yeah wet vac time

Engine bay needs some work (headlights need a polish too)

Need to find a jar of peanut butter for the bumpers

Evidence of smoker occupants (I knew this and fully expected it to honk inside)

It's OK cos it's been jabbed (Hazzard switch looks grim)

I know it's not very PH but some people might enjoy it (it's bound to cause me some pain - the handbrake is utterly crap for starters)
WCPGW...................

Looks like a cracking car! Seriously though, the Mrs doesn't let me buy £200 cars any more and she gets even more annoyed when I buy cars without telling her and hide them on an adjacent street, so I'll enjoy reading about yours.
I've had a mileage discrepancy before and easily fixed by HPI, happens all the time - you might need to pay a few quid for a report from them first though.

I got ripped off then, i paid 825 for mine, a red 3 door 1.4 hdi 207 2008.
No service history, 12 months mot. Just wanted a cheap run around. Not that bad, pretty relaxing to drive, fuel economy and 30 quid tax great, as well as only 180 to insure for me.
Will just keep it until it dies, massive step up on 206, engines does should course and strange metal noise, think exhaust, but so far so good.
Definitely an over looked car.

I thought I'd tackle DVLA on it just for s
It failed on 06/01/2021 with 102,479 miles recorded on the fail sheet
It passed on 11/01/2021 with 120.492 miles recorded (it's a bit of an obvious typo)
in 5 days so 120 hours it did 18.013 miles (so that's an average speed of 150 mph over the 5 days)
Failing that I'll chuck it thro another MOT (once I've fixed the remaining advisories) and not worry about it

I think the cheap tax thing appeals to a lot - certainly does to the family member who is already now asking when it will be ready!!!!No service history, 12 months mot. Looking at the seats and the driver's door, I reckon the previous owner was an incontinent smoking werewolf.
That would at least explain the claw marks and the pee pee stains
lol - I only see him in daylight hours but it's very possible that you are correctThat would at least explain the claw marks and the pee pee stains

Fix mistakes on your MOT certificate
You can get information corrected on your MOT certificate (such as the mileage or vehicle details) if it’s wrong.
Get the wrong mileage corrected
The way you get the mileage corrected depends on when your MOT was.
Your MOT was less than 28 days ago
Ask the MOT centre to check the mileage. They’ll give you a replacement certificate if the mileage is wrong.
Your MOT was more than 28 days ago
Report the mistake to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to get it corrected.
You also need to email proof of the mileage, such as a scan or photo of:
an invoice for the MOT
an emissions printout
a service receipt
a vehicle job card from the MOT centre
They need to show what the mileage should be, and show the same date as the MOT test.
If your scan or photo includes personal information, for example your payment details, you should blank it out or remove it.
If you do not send the right evidence, DVSA will not fix the mistakes
So I checked all the paperwork and I have everything I need (FLW) but I'll kick this process off when I have a reg doc in my name as I bet that will be requiredYou can get information corrected on your MOT certificate (such as the mileage or vehicle details) if it’s wrong.

I bet that this won't be the seemingly Sisiphean task that was getting Vodafone to re-kindle the SIM in the 7 series! If you can do that, you can do anything
Oh I think there will be surprises yet - I mean it's not got a 50p oil seal that fails with age and lunches the engine like that poxy Insignia but according to some knowledgeable fellows in the brown corner of the internet

There's quite a few things that go wrong with these, I have had poor experiences with ones we've owned, leaking head gaskets, abs pumps and ecu's, rotting coolant pipes, bad electrical wiring and more stuff I've forgotten, good luck
I'm currently looking at even if I do nothing to it and fix the MOT mileage issue WBAC would put me a night out on the beer up
