Hi All,
I thought id start a new thread on my latest purchase,
Me and a few mates have a roadtrip planned for January and rather than using my mk1 Seat Leon 1.8t that i usually use on these road trips i thought id go diesel especially as we are doing nearly 4000 miles in 8 days.
As i dont own anything modern as such i wanted to keep that theme.
Therefore i picked up this beauty, its on about 81k since new (last mot shows 200k as old clocks died) but all the MOT's before hand shows the last few years its only done 300 miles a year.
I picked the car up Saturday and she drove perfect the hour journey home with just some wheel wobble as Peugeot decided it was good to have no centre hole on the alloys so not all garages can balance them.
The car drove home without fault, i was working away Sunday night to Tuesday so she was pressed into service right away, there's nothing like driving an unknown car for work the next day right? 750 miles completed without fault in 3 days.
The plans now im back home is to give her some nice fresh oil, also i need to get those wheels balanced as the wheel wobble although isnt horrendous isnt fun.
Thanks all for reading

I thought I'd post a bit of an update on my old PIG,
It's doing well since the last update and it's due to go on its roadtrip 2 weeks today.
Since the last update it's covered about 4k almost trouble free.. just some self inflicted troubles.
I had zero history for this car so I bought a xsara timing belt kit brand new for £23, as the 306 ones were £50.. although a bit of a pain to do timing belt was fitted. However during the process my dad decided to come out and whilst trying to see down behind the engine as I dropped a bolt he stood on and snapped my fuel filter housing. Once the car was up and running this sprayed diesel alllll over the engine.
Sourced a brand new fuel filter housing for £25 and fitted
However the diesel has sprayed all over the alternator and killed this off also.
Tried a regulator and it didn't work so second hand alternator acquired, again I bought one for a xsara for £21 delivered.
The end result means it all works perfect and has a brand new timing belt.

New year's eve we took the pig to Longleat. The monkeys took a liking to the car, not only stole my pig bonnet figure but also proceeded to pull off both windscreen washers.

Lastly I got a brand new set of winter tyres fitted, however french wheels with no centre holes means 5 garages later I got them balanced.

She's almost road trip ready

These are cracking cars. The HDI lump is a peach! I will be keeping an eye on thread updates!
Just a quick question though - 2001/Ph3 should have "Crystal" headlamps. Yours don't quite look bright and clear enough to be Crystals, unless they have aged/hazed over - Considering the paint peel on the front bumper, I wonder if it has had a front end shunt and someone swapped those for ph2 headlights?
Either way, I can't imagine that bothers you very much

Great cars these, my housemate had one, was probably around 2005 so only a few years old.
Same colour and alloys but a hatchback.
I remember it being super comfortable, oddly though the A1/M1 link road had just been built and ran out of funding so the surface was a bit rough, the dash use to visibly rattle, which is odd cos it otherwise felt very solidly built.
Don't see these much now, although there is a lovely gold Gti6 near me which looks great

I'm with you on this, I reckon that's not the original bumper and was repainted silver to a lesser standard than original Just a quick question though - 2001/Ph3 should have "Crystal" headlamps. The front bumper is pretty tatty and the bonnet has a few ripples right at the front so you may well be right.
The actual mileage is around the 85k mark but the dials broke and we’re replaced with 200k ones (mot history backs this up)
Looks a good shed, I'd have another no issue. I had a China 3 door I put another 205k onto the 70k it came with. It mostly needed service consumables. only non consumables were the rear beam from a breaker, and lift pump and crank pulley both around 270k (pretty cheap from cp4l... crank pulley had been done just before I bought it too, there is a well versed 307 version somewhere).
It sat for months at a time when I was overseas and always resumed service with no issue!
The person I sold it to managed to kill it when the alternator belt they fitted snapped and took the timing belt out. They claimed they found rot on the bulkhead but I'd never even had an advisory for it.
The headlights appear to be crystals but they're hazed. they'll cut nicely with a polish as I resurrected mine.

That's why I went for the car just good old dependability and the fact you don't really see them anymore..
I'm going to get a restoration kit for the headlights today I think.
I was out pottering with it this eve and decided to add some lights for the road trip, these will not be to everyone's taste I know and they are only drilled into the astra h splitter I put on so easily removable.
