I just bought a Delorean
Discussion
A local garage had one of these to attract passing punters a few years ago - surprisingly handsome thing in the flesh.
One of the few classics that would fit an EV swap, in my opinion. Would add to the futuristic vibe, and the only loss would be a drivetrain that never lived up to JZD's vision for the car anyway...

interesting purchase, OP.
There's a US car specialist not so far from me, and they've a DeLorean for sale, too ... for quite a hefty price tag, too, IIRC.
Echoing another poster, if I could, I'd get one and turn it into an EV. Maybe that would make it as quick to 88mph as it should have been, and all those batteries would reduce the wheel arch gap, too.

I was going to suggest an LS swap with a screaming supercharger to make it sound like it did in the movie. It’s what John Delorean would have wanted. For all their faults, if you want to get into conversations with total strangers, at the petrol station, the supermarket car park, wherever, there is no better car on planet Earth. People jut love them, and you won't be able to go anywhere without people wanting to talk to you about it.
I do wonder what they would be worth these days if they had stuck to the original film script where the time machine was a fridge. They changed it after concerns kids would get trapped in fridges trying to copy the time machine.
Good luck with it. I know someone that had one in the 90s and was forever having to “polish” it

I saw one in "real life" recently and was staggered by how wide it was! Real presence on the road. They had somehow managed to get it to make an electric hum of sorts on the move which was cool as f

I had a subaru that made an electric motor type hum. It was the diff bearings dying.
k.TX.
But these are just crying out for some sort of motor swap. They look fantastic, just so let down by the drivetrain.
I love these. I grew up a few miles from the factory and they are fondly remembered in Belfast. About 15 years ago there was a global reunion in Belfast with cars from all over the world. That was quite a sight. As mentioned they have really great road presence, much better looking than in pics. Wide squat stance. Those doors!
I once did handy work for an elderly guy and he had a green painted one salted away in his garage. I don't think it was MOTd and I don't know what became of it. Probably worth a fortune now. I think he said he paid £13k for it, not sure when he bought it but I saw it 20 years ago.
The factory also made a couple in RHD but don't they ever officially made sale before the closure. There was a TV programme about trying to find out if they existed and they eventually found one in storage under a layer of grime. I wonder what that would be worth!
Enjoy the car McFly!
