My Boggo BMW 120D
Discussion
That looks and sounds like a really clean car.
The N47 engine has some horror stories for cam-chain issues but from what I have read later versions are supposed to be better.
But I didn't know any of that when I bought a September 2007 pre-registered 123d in January 2008 - the only car I've ever owned on the current plate! With 201bhp it was decently quick and I kept it until July 2014 when I sold it with full BMW SH on 81K miles. But then there are plenty of cars with that engine still going strong - the 123d I owned passed an MOT in June on 121K.
There is a school of thought that suggests annual oil changes can help with cam-chain longevity rather than the BMW intervals that can be up to 2 years apart, but mine was only ever serviced to the BMW schedule as I bought the BMW Service Pack.
I only sold mine because I was no longer doing business miles and had discovered straight 6 petrol BMWs.
But I really enjoyed my 123d and hope you enjoy your 120d as much.
