My 1600E which I restored from a shell and which Jeremy Clarkson used in the final episode of the Grand Tour
It was also used on The One Show
Classic Ford did a feature on it
Then there’s my 3.0 Capri Ghia which I bought in 1988 then sold it in 1990 as it couldn’t seem to pass a petrol station without wanting me to spend money on it, then back in 2016 after putting out a few shouts as I knew it still existed it materialised in Ireland in a very poor state, so struck a deal, brought it back and carried out a ground up restoration.
Then because I’m storing it at home and don’t have a garage I built one to the exact dimensions of the Capri as those Clarke pop up things are look hideous being far too high, [url]

Then there’s my baby
This is what happens if you don’t get a problem treated. In the early days, you may have been able to recover from loving old Fords. But I can see this has simply got worse over the years, and you’re now in a state where you’re buying back ones you’ve sold and making special garages for them.
It’s a cautionary tale for anyone who thinks they can get away with trying it. I’ve certainly been tempted myself but thankfully managed not to. Kids - don’t do it or you could end up like Powertune.
(Joking, of course - lovely collection)

Brilliant thread - thanks.
My first car was a 9 year old clapped out basic 1500cc MK2 Cortina, but it had a 1600E wooden dash!
In 1981 I bought a 1978 MK2 Granada 2.8 Ghia that I replaced with a MK2 Escort RS2000. Then a 2 year old 2.8 Injection Capri that I had to sell for a house deposit.
So a few years later I bought another Capri 2.8i that seems to be living on in Scotland.

I replaced that in 1990 with a 1985 2.8i Scorpio, mainly because insurance for anything lairy became stupidly expensive!
But quick Fords were fun back when they were affordable.

I'm not saying I've never owned a Ford, but my dad has never owned a car that wasn't a Ford since he sold his 1959 mini in 1961, which Is why I try to avoid them. Actually I avoid them because I could have bought a 3 door Cosworth in 2006 for £10k but didn't. And don't like to think about the bathroom that I bought instead.
Nice collection by the way.
