2008 Daimler X358 Super Eight
Discussion
Here is my dream X350/8, a Daimler X358 Super Eight! One of 18 and 2nd to last sold in the UK, I am told!
A little backstory... A forum friend was going to PX her for his 2019 XJ Autobiography at the main dealer. My friend Martyn jumped in to purchase her, however last of space meant no sadly. However, I was waiting for my next 'special' car, Martyn told me he had pulled out of the deal on Monday a 7am, by 8am I had spoken to Mark at told him I would buy her instead. Money was sent and to be collected Friday.
Martyn kindly offered to drive me down, so Thursday evening a train ride to Martyn's. Then drive to Lowestoft in Morning!
Martyn was on hand to take snaps as I was too excited!
My first sight of the Super Eight:

Jaguar and Daimler together at dealership

Then there were three!

So a massive thanks to Martyn and Mark for being all round great guys!
Roll on today, I attended a Jaguar meet at RAF Cosford with some friends.
Even managed to get sun for a hour for some pictures

Armrest of joy

That is a very special car.
In black it looks menacing, can imagine some old school London East End gangster driving it.
Just thinking, if only 18 were made, then somebody must have set up tooling for a run of 72 wheels (presuming they don't have them as spares or made any exrta as spares) as I can't recall seeing these wheels on anything else.

Cheers!
I will admit that I wasn't a huge fan of the wheels in photos, but in real life they give the car so much presence, love them! They are no longer available from Jaguar, hope they don't get damaged...
When I said 1 of 18, that is the UK market, I belive the total figure for this shape in the hundreds.
The car has 125,000 miles, it has had loads of work done at last service 1,000 miles ago. However, there are some issues to resolve, which is no problem considering what I paid vs advertised cars...
Plans are:
-Refurb wheels
-Replace bits of damaged/worn interior trim
-Refurbish worn areas of leather
-New thermostat
-Rear gearbox mount- making some unpleasant vibrations
-Shocks feel past their best (expensive one!)
Then...
-6% Supercharger pulley
-Stainless air intake
-Tune to see around 450+bhp
-Slight bit of V8 rumble with nicer looking exhaust tips (old ones to be kept to return to standard)
R.A Creamer supplied the car new, most of the services done by them. Going to get replica plates made with my 2x2 dateless registration

Congratulations on tracking down your dream car - it looks lovely.
But the interior is just fantastic!
Years ago I got picked up for busniess trips to/from the airport in a Jaguar XJ8 and there was just something special about the interior of that compared to the usual Greman alternatives.

That is wonderful. What are your "titivation" plans for it?
I'm genuinely not sure how that could be improved upon.I didn't realise they'd done a Daimler edition of this generation XK. I've always been slightly confused about the relationship with Jag and Daimler, especially with the different Daimler and Benz/Chrysler too.
Out of interest, how much premium above 'standard' list price was the Daimler edition?
