Mercedes 190E 8V Turbo
Discussion
I bought a Mercedes 190E 2.0 litre Manual and have been working on converting it for around seven months.
I changed the block from a 2.0 litre to a 2.3 litre block and freshened up the bottom end with new mains and big end bearings.
The head was skimmed and lightly ported and new guides fitted.
I was unhappy with the old K Jetronic fuel injection system so I fabricated a new EFI system using a shortened Volvo B230 fuel rail and Volvo 760 injectors
I purchased a turbo manifold and a front pulley and trigger wheel from Hedgehog Motorsport in Thailand and fitted a T3/T4 Turbo purchased from MaxSpeeding Rods.
I also fitted four LS2 Coils to replace the old single coil pack system and am running the Fuel Injection and Coils through a new MaxxEcu system. The Ecu also looks after the Mac Electronic Turbo Boost Valve and the Fuel Pump and Electric Cooling fan relays.
There was no room in the front for an inter-cooler as I wanted to retain the Air conditioning. I fitted a water to air inter-cooler in the area just in front of where the throttle body inlet is and ran pipes from the Turbo through the inter-cooler and then down onto the throttle body opening. I had to adapt a throttle position sensor to send info back to the ECU.
I ran water lines under the car down to the boot where I installed a Bosch Hot Water pump to circulate water through the Air to Water Inter-cooler and through a Volvo internal heater core that I mounted under the rear right hand side of the boot. It gets plenty of air down there.
The car is a delight to drive and produces around 270HP at the wheels at 15PSI boost.
It's a great Sleeper !!!!

I live on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
The car is very engaging to drive and as those who own them know they handle very well.
The extra power makes it VERY lively.
Have just sourced a replacement air con compressor as mine just gave up the ghost and began to leak the disclosing die. Will fit it when it arrives and get it gassed up again
Bit of a search but finally found the right one.
Am also fitting a larger radiator under the rear of the car to keep the air temp in the water to air inter-cooler supply at a lower temperature when in slow or stopped traffic
