Mitsubishi Shogun SG4 Black edition
Discussion
I must be mad but have ended up buying a 2012 Shogun SG4 black edition (essentially top spec at the time with added black bits)
Really good condition luckily, as bought sight unseen, and having only driven one before I seriously need to get used to it. Noisy and agricultural are fair description’s for it, but for me that’s part of the appeal, and it’s a proper 4x4 as opposed to all the soft roaders out there.
Couple pics from the ad, will get some decent ones when I’ve had a chance to clean it ( and it’s not raining)

Few bits I’ll end up doing to it, upgrade the multi media system, possibly get the wood bits wrapped gunmetal grey, and get some rubber mats, otherwise it’s really well kitted out so just a case of getting used to turning the steering wheel about three full turns for every corner and committing myself to tractor life

Least interesting car ever in readers cars which is something of an accomplishment I suppose, I thought it was kind of cool but I’ve never had very good taste.
I’ll just prattle on to myself then. Ran it up a muddy bumpy road and it didn’t break sweat, I’m looking forward to proper winter conditions to give it another go, used high range with locked centre diff but could easily have just used 4wd.
I’m warming to it, had a worrying first couple days of ownership thinking it’s too big, basic, and unrefined, but it’s growing on me and is quite a laugh to drive providing you don’t want precise handling or peppy performance.
Had a Mini Cooper s before this and it was good fun, so total change in every way.

Hi. Im an ex shogun / pajero owner so I respect your purchase ;-) i often look at SG5 models and am amazed at how these are holding their value.
However, Ive just sold a mk2 Pajero Fieldmaster as Ive had enough of diesel pumps. My pump was the electric model and was starting to fail, my brother has a mk3 and a mk4 SG3 ( 2017 ) and his mk3 has just blown its pump. Replacements are £3K. MK4's arent built as strong as the mk3 but are more car like in driving experience.
Great trucks and I suggest you sign up to the pajero forum and go through all the common issues with these models / engines.
I do like the black look :-)
Simon
Reference the SG5 values.
I bought one earlier this year, was a late 2017 one owner car from main dealer. Paid 25.5k. Very quickly found I could not get on with it. Persevered for 3 months and 3000 miles but it was just not for me. It was in for some minor warranty work and I mentioned to dealer that I was not liking it. They offered to buy it back for not much less than I bought it for.
It’s now sat on their forecourt for £29k.
