After owning—and losing—a small fortune on cars that I quickly got bored of, I took a punt and bought one of the last new Trophy R’s left.

Though my friends take the piss about the decals and orange wheels (I have the Carbons tucked away safely), this is by far the most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned.

The engine has ample power for UK roads, sounds fantastic too, and the whole setup—particularly the suspension and overall feel—makes it a truly exciting car to take out for an early morning drive.

The only downside I found was that the original gearbox was difficult to shift and ruined the car’s natural flow, so I invested in a CAE quickshift, which transformed the vehicle.

Instead of trying to hurtle myself towards the horizon, I now spend time perfecting my heel-and-toe technique.

Anyway, a quick photo before she’s put away—but if you want something truly special, try one, and then try a short-shift box!

I really like the idea of these and i'm glad Renault made such a thing!

Have you any shots of the carbon wheels on or off the car? Would love to see some detailed shots of them. More pictures in general too biggrin

What are you plans with it?

Love these, and still want one, but I doubt I'd ever get a chance to use it

Can you feel any difference between when you drive with the alloy or the carbon wheels on?

Anyone driven one of these compared to the 300 Trophy? Is there really that much difference?

Thruxton circuit has one of these for experience days. I drove it back in the summer and loved everything apart from the gearbox, particularly 4th to 5th.

Kelvin burt (ex BTCC driver) took me for a hot lap and had no such trouble, first time in the car and he was full of praise.

I do want to put them on but they are so gorgeous that I don’t want to damage them . I’m thinking of just getting some nice black alloys .

Lovely car but what on earth is going on with the rear camber in those pics!

Also looks better on the orange wheels even though the carbons have there advantages

I’m pretty sure that is just a trick of the photo.

Looks like the photo has been taken using panoramic setting (maybe because the whole car wouldn’t fit in the picture using a normal setting?).

It’s a great looking car though - I quite fancy a regular RS300 (despite reading lots of fairly bad stuff regarding the build quality). I’d also love it in the lurid orange or yellow but my wife would probably think I’d gone mental!

Great car. I sold a couple of these to PH'ers when they were knocking them out last year.

I hope you got a balls-out deal!!
