Good luck!

I had a 97 C Class with a 5 speed box and I’ve yet to drive anything with an autobox that was as easy to shift manually - the shift gate layout is perfect.

The whole modern “knock it to the side and then back and forth to shift” is nowhere near as intuitive.

Very lovely OP.

Whenever I see an SL always admire them. Two-tone is fitting for a 90s Merc

A fellow CH PHer with an R129!

I took mine out of hibernation a couple of weeks ago, they’re wonderful cars to cruise around in now that it’s getting sunny.

Hopefully yours will not be too troublesome, mine is plagued with random electrical faults that are a pain to diagnose.

I went for the V8 version. Got it in September. Given the way fuel prices are going, that looks like a monumentally idiotic idea!

Like you, I put the kids in the back. Mine are 9 and 6, and on the few occasions they have been in it so far they’ve discovered the fun that my brother and I used to have in the 80s, piling up on one side of the back seat at every roundabout. I’ve got 3 point belts but haven’t fitted them yet.

Congratulations on your purchase. Enjoy!

Delightful car.

I’ve fitted three point rear belts to my 1990 car, which were cheap to buy and straightforward to fit.

Don’t forget to raise the roll-bar with little ones in the back!

I’m sure history will remember these as one of the best constructed and designed cars of all time - there isn’t a bad angle on them, and they fulfill the design brief to perfection.

Your kids will always remember the journeys in the back, long after they’ve picked the bugs out of their hair…

Thanks Micky, I thinks you are absolutely right!

I have seen your old post re the rear seat belts and because of them i have contacted Quickfitbits. As I'm on the continent, I will look for a nearer solution, as I can get 3 point static belts here (that also have an ECE markings, in case the local MOT has looks more thoroughly!).

At the moment I'm contemplating, whether I can get an automatic belt to work scratchchin

I absolutely have to fit 3 point belts, since the Britax Prince child seat that is approved for lap belts too, is to high to fit under the roll bar mad
Good luck 🤞
