Well i was struggling to figure out what to replace my diesel Octavia VRS estate with as it had a few issues, so went and looked at a few different cars, and ended up with a 2010 FN2 Type R, 124000 miles, full service history. Immaculate inside, and just the odd stone chip on the outside.

The seating position is taking some getting used to, amd as im on the larger side, the seats are snug lol, not a fan of the rev hang, so will be looking to try and get rid of that.

That looks in very good condition. I had one of these new around 2010. I remember being very surprised at how firm the ride was compared to my previous type R. I'm sure there's lots of aftermarket solutions now

If he can't use a gearbox and has a phobia of going over 2000rpm then perhaps it could be an issue.

What is more likely is being absolutely blown away by the throttle response of the Type R, the easy free revving nature of it's engine and shortly after passing 5300rpm it is highly unlikely you'd miss a 2.0 TDI.

OP - that is a rather clean looking FN2 & it's not too common to see them in Silver. I found on a standard FN2 the intake/exhaust far too subtle, a Mugen intake & a cat back exhaust made it a bit more Type R, Eibach lowering springs improved the ride somewhat.

I like the free revving engine, but do miss the torque, and im ok with the handling and sound at the moment, but I do wanna get rid of the rev hang, as it makes the ride a bit jerky.

The rev hang can be a combination of factors, i'd start by cleaning the throttle body and the injector air assist valve (IAAV) which is plumbed into it & check for vacuum/air leaks in the intake system and see if that improves the situation. another trick is disconnecting the battery for a while for the ecu to have to relearn the throttle.

Sadly there is a bit of a lag due to the drive by wire setup & ecu response to a quick throttle input. Hondata/Ecutek can improve it as can removing the IAAV, then you can gain >20hp + better throttle control
