Another 300hp Mk5 Golf
Discussion
Not wanting to overcrowd driving nirvana's new car post with more pics of another Mk5 GTI here is mine.
I say mine, my girlfriend moved on from her Fiat 500 pop after taking my 330hp 7.5GTI down to her grandparents a few weeks ago. She was always afraid of driving mine, but after some time behind the wheel is much more confident. We needed something bigger than her Fiat as a dog simply does not fit in the back of one.
Wanting nothing too big, a with a little bit of poke and we ended up looking at a 290hp Golf GTI that we got for the same money that the Fiat went to Motorway for.
Plenty of history but in need of a cambelt change, it has a few rust spots to sort, the worst of which being the boot handle surround.
After 2 weeks of driving this the lady tells me she doesn;t like driving it. I however, do! So now she drives my car and I've got this.
To do list -
Rust repairs - Will do my best digging out the rust and then primer, rattle can and lacquer followed by a machine polish
Cambelt, tensioner and water pump
RCD330 head unit with a rear USB and then a Carlinkit in the glove box for wireless Apple Carplay (Works a treat in my 7.5)
Boot handle flip reversing camera
Upgraded brakes, maybe just pads for now but I've been spoilt with the brakes on my Performance Pack Golf.
Work out what has been done to it to get to 290hp.
A few pics from the ad, more to follow.

If mapping was done at R-Tech you are guaranteed it’s been done right. They are the go to for these engines. They won’t map it unless it has the correct supporting mods. Believe they also stipulate V Power etc so maybe something to consider. It will likely be mapped for it.
Comforting to hear that RTech are the team to go to. Usually Momentum or V-Power in my own GTI so this will stay the same!Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
