Long time reader here, very few posts!

Picked up a 1991 944 S2 Cabriolet at the weekend, had looked at a few a done a fair amount of research on what to look out for. This one ended up being only 30 mins down the road, had a decent test drive and then went back and waded through the extensive folder of paperwork - including a copy of GBPorsche magazine from June 2015 where it was featured!

It had its sills replaced in 2014, the only rust now is at the bottom of the n/s front wing which will need some attention at some point. The bumpers could also do with a respray. And I'm not sure about the wheels, would maybe want to try and find some original Design 90s.

It has 104,000 miles on, but had 95,000 in 2010 so has done very few miles in the last 12 years. Most recent owner has had it for 5 years and its had regular oil changes, but it could do with a timing/balance belt change as that was last done in 2013.

Nice - are those 4Star classic plates in the article? If so, you know it won’t have been cheap.

These are really growing on me as they get older, and you can’t beat pop up lights

Enjoy!

Yes it looks like they are, good spot I wasn’t familiar with them - and I have just found it on the sold section of their website. Interesting as the previous owner bought it in 2018 from Fast Classics and the previous owner got it in 2013 according the vCheck report I got. If the article was in June 2015 I wonder how they got hold of this car? Stock photos maybe?

That is lovely - congratulations.

I used to have a 944 2.5 Coupe and it was great, but they do need continuous attention. Still miss it.

I'll be following with interest.

Used to have an identical one, I enjoyed it despite its various old car realted issues, never had a car that go some many positive reactions.

You keeping those wheels or getting some originals ?

Great car, they're lots of fun! Don't often see one in red either

I'm 50/50 on them, I don't mind them but quite like the idea of going back to standard so I am keeping an eye out for some design 90s on eBay etc.

Yeah, they look ok but I always think the increase in size highlights the overhangs, owners spent a lot of time and effort trying to "modernise" 944s in the early 2000s but I think thats past and originality is best, dont think there are a better wheel for late 944s than the D90, think the Boxster ones are a bit chunky somehow.
