Having chuntered through a fairly boring back catalogue of motors, I decided that for my 40th I would buy something a bit more special.

Cue the arrival of my new to me 2007 Cayman base model. 2.7 Meteor Grey manual. I got it for a very reasonable price, especially since it's only ever seen Porsche service centres, completely standard and 2 previous owners.

Plans thus far are to enjoy it as a weekend car. I will do some OEM+ additions in time and will update this thread. But for now....

All I got for my 40th was a hangover, so you are beating me.

The base model is all you need. I really like those wheels as well as they give the best ride and are definitely "anti-chav"

Good choice.Fantastic car.

Very interested in how you get on as this is exactly what I was planning for my 40th

Awesome! I’ve the exact same - a 2007 2.7 - you’ll not be disappointed. Daily drive mine, have done 8k miles since buying it 9 months ago and loved every minute.

Let us know what you’ve got planned with it. I’ve done nothing so far other than replace tyres on mine, refresh the calliper paint and replace the wheel bolts.

Thanks for all the good feedback.

FieldAtlanta - these three things are already on my list, as well as a second set of wheels. I would quite like to cover the steering wheel and gear stick in Alcantara.

First job, I have replaced the old original clear stone chip gaurd with a carbon look replacement. The old one was very tired and an absolute pig to remove but happy with the result.

What a lovely looking car. With those wheels it looks so perfectly proportioned.
These look so much classier than the later 981 variants.
My wife has a Meteor Grey Porsche and although not the most exciting colour it is very easy to live with.
I don't drive my wife's car often but whenever I do it feels special.

Nice - Boxsters and Caymans of this era really are growing old gracefully. I keep looking at Boxsters and think I may well take the plunge at some point if I can tear myself away from buying another Mini R53 as a weekend toy.
