Test drove and paid today, collecting tomorrow when my wonderful wife can take me to Rochdale.
2.0 jtdm 170 veloce, loads of bells and whistles, my first modern Alfa and my 25th owned.
The logic... £225 a year cheaper tax and twice the mpg on my current daily Volvo s40 t5.
She will sit nicely with my old 156.

25 Alfas, that’s impressive.
Got a 1.4 Giulietta back in 2016 to replace a v6 Gtv, was a fun car to drive around and took corners confidently and swiftly at Brandshatch.
Didn’t sell and still haven’t, the Gtv as feel I would miss the engine and interior feeling.
Swapped the Giulietta for a larger non Alfa and still find myself looking at the classifieds. Still a great looking car.
Had borrowed a 2.0 diesel when mine was in for service and found the pull of the engine good too.
Just wish the modern Alfa(cars) would throttle response that matched the older ones (gtv or even a Ford focus mk1).
Off to check the classifieds but should really sort out the heater in the gtv and drive it more

I've had 3 Alfas through the years, but never a Guiletta. I've been looking at a 1750tbi (auto) but can't really find much about them other than Harry's Garage review who loved it. One I have bought is fitted with the standard 18" Turbines but likely to replace them with 19" matt ginmetal and polished MSW 82'sNice, we replaced out MiTo 155 with the Petrol Giuletta 170, a much better all rounder but slightly less go kart in nature.
Happy with it, especially considering how cheap these things are. Ours has some minor issues that will need sorting out, including terrible radio reception and creaking suspension, but drives nicely.
The throttle response is quite good in dynamic mode, for a modern car at least.

Handsome car, love the colour!
Based on my own 60 plate and a friend's 11 plate example, I would strongly advise a damn good poke around the rear end of the sills.
I had to spend a day chopping out rot and welding in new metal last year, the arch liners trap grot and moisture which rots the end of the sill and then allows the wet muck into the sills to carry on corroding. Mate's car is showing signs of the same thing. It's hidden by the side skirts so you don't notice from outside the car until too late.
The front subframe and rear boot floor also had some surface corrosion, both cleaned up, treated and painted now, but again something worth checking.
On a positive note though, when I was poking around under the thing i noticed that the rest of the floorpan looked amazingly good for a near 13 year old Italian car!

I ran a petrol Veloce for 3 years apart from servicing etc, the only thing that broke was the dash cubby.
I replaced that for i think 40 quid and routed the usb cable from the glove box and fitted my Garmin sat nav in it.
Oh and fitted a twin exhaust set up with a new rear valence.
I had a 159 TI before it and decided all Alfas that i owned from then would have to have 2 pipes out the back.

Just browsing PH as I often do and saw your name Wayne, great to see that your still in the Alfa fold etc.
I've always said I wouldn't mind the 1750 one myself BUT those are thin on the ground these days it seems, not that they I can get one as I'm no longer on the Island and they never sold them here.
Last one that I had was DOL which I believe now is stuck in Scotland, probably rotting away unfortunately.
