Don't think I've seen a readers' thread on one of these in coupe form yet, so figured I'd have a bash at my own...

I picked this up back in December 2020 after about four months of searching; it took a while as cars were getting snapped up so quickly back then; when I phoned up the ones I liked, they'd already sold.

I didn't mind in the end; as soon as I saw this one advertised I knew it was the one, it was in the colour I really wanted and had every optional extra you could pick -
Designo Graphite Grey Magno
Driving Assistance Package
Heads up display
Exterior Carbon Pack 1
Exterior Carbon Pack 2
Aero Pack
Night Pack
Interior trim in Carbon/Aluminium
Ceramic Brakes
Premium Plus package
5 Twin Spoke Forged Alloys 19/20
9000 miles on the clock.
- it was even at my local dealership!
I made the call and having confirmed it was still available, quickly left a deposit with the agreement to view it a couple of days later.
Now, this is where it got a bit awkward... I was having to self-isolate for surgery on one of my eyes the following week, so I couldn't go to the dealer and test drive it, plus I also needed to sell my current car at the time...

Thankfully my Dad is a petrolhead like me so a quick call and he agreed to go and check out the C63, and sell my C43 for me.
Once he viewed it a few days later and confirmed everything was fine with the car, a deal was made and I rocked up to the dealership the day after my operation, half-blind, to finish off the paperwork... and then had to wait 2 weeks before I could finally drive it. grumpy

So, the new year came around and I was able to drive my car for the first time! Sadly the roads were icy and I nearly spun out taking the first corner hehe

The day I was able to drive, it went up to Reep for full satin PPF and a ceramic coat - with this being a daily, I knew the Magno paint would suffer and after reading some of the horror stories trying to respray cars with this paint I decided to go all out keeping it as nice as possible. Reep were brilliant, to be honest, and 3 weeks later I was really happy with the results when I saw it.

Since then I've driven about 18k miles in it, and it really has been amazing. Even now it's still an event to drive which I'm very happy about - I was a bit worried it might end up being one-dimensional once the novelty of the engine wore off but it's proven me wrong (happily) smile

The noise it makes is just cloud9 - especially cold starts using the 'emotion' start - however, I admit with the OPF it's definitely quieter than the pre-FL cars. So I started looking at ways to improve it, but I didn't want to mess with the OPF, and I also didn't want it ASBO loud as I didn't fancy annoying the neighbours (even more). In the end, someone recommended PCW, so I got in touch and booked it in with him to work his magic on the backboxes making it a little louder. After having it done, it now sounds perfect and how it should've from the factory IMO.

Handling I think is quite good actually - it's no Porsche, but then that isn't why I bought it - the only complaint I've got is the stiffer suspension settings; I've found it best kept in the 'comfort' setting otherwise it can get too bouncy on the road I found a bit unsettling. The feedback through the steering wheel and the car in general, is pretty good as well IMO.

The traction is a lot better than I thought it would be, even from a standstill it hooks up well and hurls you towards triple figures very quickly - even in the wet it can get a decent amount of power down without spinning up the wheels. Don't get me wrong though, it's still easy to get the back end to step out biglaugh

I've also been surprised by the attention it gets, it's the first car I've had where people have walked up to me and asked questions about it, even taken the odd picture of it. Speaking of, here are a few more recent ones.

Lovely motor op. Something about AMG mercs that just get under your skin. Never the best handling dynamics but those big V8’s just bring me so much pleasure. I sold my 204 c63 about 5 years ago now and keep thinking about going back.
Never had a negative comment on mine either, always thumbs up or people asking to rev it/ conversations at petrol stations etc. And mine was just a 4 door saloon so looked nothing special!
