So a change in employment meant I wasn't using my van very much and having spent 3k on it just before Xmas it was the perfect time to sell. Bit gutted as I loved that van

Even more gutted when it sold in 2 days. Hey ho new car time...
Original plan (sensible) was to take half the van money and buy an estate. Had a few over the years so was looking for the same again, mondeo mk4, 5 series, e class etc.
It's been 5 years since I last bought a vehicle and was shocked at the absolute garbage on offer, not even for st money either, first few weeks i viewed nearly 10 cars, from 5k upto 10k, didnt drive any, basically big piles of crap. wasn't long before budget creep happened.
Never been so depressed when buying a car.

Re evaluating our needs and what we liked from the van, space, toys, speed, auto, I decided a suv fitted the bill best (wife has some medical issues that are slowly getting worse so getting in and out easily is a big requirement, but she refuses to accept any kind of disability so that requirement I kept to myself)

Didn't want a massive suv, otherwise would have just kept the van, so xc60 q5 and x3 on shortlist.

My secret requirement was minimum 3lt, so that left q5 and x3. Briefly looked at f pace and glc but I was at the bottom of the market budget wise so discounted.

Vast majority are black or grey which I didn't want. More fruitless viewings. One Sunday was looking at a popular online car Sales website and saw the perfect car. Not black / grey / white. 3lt. Not to many nanny features. Not that many around. 4mins later it's bought. Budget blown out the window. Never driven one. Not really researched the model. Oh well. Even paid for delivery. Week later it turned up

Won't bore you with the nitty gritty but it wasn't right cosmetically, I complained, they ignored me, I complained louder, still ignored, got the hump big time, got a tepid response, took too long so kicked up a stink on social media, got a better response and they agreed to fix the issues. I win.
Car went away for 4 weeks (parts supply shortage) but I did get a 21 plate focus 1.0 st line as a courtesy car. Came back this week. Happy chappy again. (Tbf the focus was actually a good car and I did start to think this is all you really need.....gave my head a wobble and ignored the sensible side)

X3 F25 35D in Melbourne red.
Haven't even cleaned it yet, only thing I've done is get rid of the awful black badges that somewhere in its previous life someone has put on. Need to change the bonnet / wheels / boot roundels back the original blue and white rather than the tacky "carbon fibre" black ones. Hope I haven't bored you too much with that ramble.
