BMW Z4M Roadster - finally!
Discussion
I've always loved the Bangle Z4. When I left Primary school a film called Stormbreaker was in the Cinemas, a flop by all accounts, but I loved it. Ewan McGregor is minding his own business driving his Z4, when he gets shot by Damian Lewis suspended from a Helecopter!
So the car must have left an impression on me, I wanted one.
Fast forward to 2021, there was a Z4M for sale in (Motorhub
). Absolutely stunning specification. I had a good look round it and found nothing obviously wrong with it. However they could not find the history for it and then started playing strange sales tactics, so I regrefully walked away.
Back to current, I decided it was time to slim the amount of cars down (still to sell off more). The aim is one sports and one luxury. I wanted a convertible too as missed that from my old 650i. I sold my E90 and had around £3k to buy a Z4, nothing really grabbed me.
The Range Rover was up for going (fantastic car), maybe browsing marketplace the morning after a boozy pub crawl isnt a good idea... I found a Z4M in gorgeous Interlagos Blue, sensible miles and loads of history. The catch was it was CAT D.
I spent the day chatting with the seller about doing a trade for the Range Rover and cash his way.
That same day at 8pm we were negotiating in a Premier Inn carpark! After an exchange of keys it was mine and the Range Rover his.
I did open the taps a few times on way home, I have to say its very deceptively quick. You only realise how fast you are going till you look at the speedo. Drove all the way home with the roof down with that raspy straight six sound track.
So after a bit of cleaning here she is. You will notice the wheels are huge, they are 19s and too big really. The spoiler i'm 50/50 on. One really cool thing is the Eventuri Carbon intake that it came with.

The seller had had the Vanos done by MrVanos recently so that was a great bonus. Paintwork is in fantastic condition, I am impressed. The wheels and calipers are poor on the other hand, tyres are due soonish. The plan is to go to 18" as it should be.
Interior is pretty clean, drivers seat has some bolster wear.
In 2015 the car had a small accident, hence the Cat D marker. I have a full book of photos of the damage, which was a wing and headlight really. The photos show the car stripped down and nothing is bent. After a Google, the car has its own thread on the Z4 forum about the damage. So i'm happy enough its not a cut and shut haha.
So plans are to make it as nice as possible and watch out for those helecopters lol

Fantastic. I just bought one too, few weeks ago. Dont usually post a thread for all my cars but with the interest in this, along with this thread here Z4 #2, I guess I should!
Eventuri is definitely on my list of must-do's!
Have you still got original exhaust tips? They have come up really well, mine are quite tarnished. I've had a little go by hand with some autosol but I may have to drill out the rivets and get them on a bench to properly shine them up.

My MC had 19" CSL Replicas fitted when I bought it, but so many Z4s have CSL style wheels I bought a set of OE 224s just to be different!
If you haven't already get it up past 5,000 rpm and keep it floored - it's addictive, probably more so with that intake set-up.
As others have said they do seem to be a bit of a bargain compared to other M cars.

It looks like a lovely example. I remember when they were new a chap from PH gave me a ride around the block at Donington in his sepang bronze Z4M roadster. Fast foward to 2023 and I've had my Imola red example for aorund 8 years and have done approximately 80,000 miles in it. Not so long ago I had the rod bearings replaced and added and OEM style carbon airbox to the eventuri. The sound is excellent.
