Never, Ever, Ever, Ever, Ever, Ever, ever,ever,ever,ever, ever, ever, ever, ever trust a 4-speed TR7, The Rover box is lightyears ahead and with the later model's stronger Diff, better suspension and dare-i-say-it better build quality (relatively speaking) is a much better buy

So RobM, you still have her? I'm thinking about going to town on mine now that I've graduated uni and doing a nice big 300bhp+ Engine conversion etc on her.... kinda a poor-man's TVR

Nope, she's long gone. About 20 yrs ago . Sprint engine did go in though, sacrificed passenger footwell for exhaust, but hey ho bit of '45 sidedraught ' webber gimme some 180 bhp fun at the time. I was young and foolish :/

Hey don't do the 7 down. I love them and wouldn't call them "a poor mans TVR". I like TVR's, don't get me wrong but I reckon that I'l stick with the modded 7v8. Mines undergoing a turbocharged LS1 conversion so I don't need a TVR. The other great thing that I like about the 7 is it's steel construction and cheap available parts plus if you join the Tr Register you get really cheap insurance. My last insurance cost £350 appx for a 4.5 Rover twin turbo engine in my heavily modified 7v8. The insurance was fully comprehensive with a 3000 miles limitation. Tr7's have incredibly strong shells and bodywork as they were over engineered in expectation of strict new US legislation which never came into force. Just try not to buy a rotten or neglected car in the first place.
