A couple of weeks back we decided to take the plunge on a BMW M2C. Before I get into what it is we've purchased and the future plans for the car. I thought I'd share some of the previous cars which have led us to the decision.

As an EV company car driver myself these cars have been owned by my partner and used for occasional office trips for her and weekend cars for us both to enjoy. Some of you may be familiar with our previous Clio 182 track car we owned for over 8 years. This was sold earlier this year to free up some space, since then we've enjoyed Mini F56 JCW, M140i and now the M2.

Taking of BMW's the M140i was 'is' a great car. We started looking at these following a positive experience with the Mini. We managed to find an unmodified black 3 door with all the options ticked - Had to be the one! After sometime with the car we decided to enhance what was already a great base, a visit to Motech was planned!

Throughout our ownership it was completely faultless, ruthlessly fast and comfortable. We started debating, what could possible top this as an all-rounder daily - Needs to be fast but not unusable. Needs to look the part without trying too hard. Needs to hold 2 or 3 people and golf clubs plus the luggage for road trips. Easy right? X3M, F80 M3..

Admittedly these are all great choices and we looked at a couple, however the X3M felt too big especially as 90% of the time it's 1 or 2 people in the car. The M3/M4 both seemed the obvious choice however after driving a few examples, we didn't quite 'connect' straight away. I'm sure others will agree usually after a few minutes you know - This is the car. It wasn't like that with these.

Incomes the BMW M2C. We saw a Hockenheim Silver one at Wollaston BMW, relatively local to us so we decided to go down and have look. The whole experience was really positive and the car drove great. That afternoon we wanted to look at another one to have a comparison, we took a trip to EAG Specialist Cars in St Neots. These guys are basically BMW M Specialists - They had an identical BMW M2C in the same colour, with features like M Carbon Splitters, Spats and Alcantara Steering wheel etc.

Obligatory first petrol fill up..

They provided us with a great price for our M140i and a deal was done. We've now owned the car 3 weeks and it still feels new to us! The M2 is the perfect step up from a M140i and provides all the attributes of a M3/M4! Great balance for daily/weekend use and we can't wait to start using it more - Hopefully Le Man 24 next year, NC500 and another Wales trip when it warms up.

I'll try and keep this thread updated with any progress!

Fantastic car; the 140i looked lovely

Having been out in one (not an owner though) they're superb cars; but far too small for me unfortunately...

I do keep looking at 1 Series & 2 Series cars for the wife; but they'll wait until we've got rid of the mortgage in another 26 months...!

Will watch this thread; I do like the M2s thumbup

I bought a new M2C in 2019, absolute weapon, sounded phenomenal, but I sold it after 18 months as the image of it as a boy racer car with older cars being driven by wkers and the "need" for arses to want to race from lights etc just became a chore.

In saying that, that was mine and me, I hope you enjoy yours.

That shape M2 is the best looking BMW since the E46. Wonderful looking car, proportions are sport on. Enjoy OP. Not jealous at all!
