OK, I'm cheating here. But I'd love to see someone buy this and document the restoration in Readers' Cars biggrin

An amazing opportunity to pick up a completely original car that has been family owned from new, and sat since 1992. What an experience that first wash will be!

Auction ends on Friday with no reserve https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/auction/16211320

Loads of pictures, but none of the bits that matter on an old Beetle!

Indeed that is cheating.
Would you do that for every car in auction?

You'll be glad to hear the answer to that is no. Would love to follow a resto thread on this though!

Urgh. These sorts of things are a nightmare.

Cheap to buy but resto will be horrifically expensive and you'll end up with a car that's worth a fraction of the investment...

Ask me how I know banghead

Not quite a full restoration, but I have had this '66 for over 15 years now....not driven it for 3 years.

Readers thread here;
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Could do with getting it out for a cobweb run this year...

That looks superb! We'll have a Readers' Cars area at the PistonHeads Annual Service at Bicester Heritage on 10 August, would be great to see it there.

If any of us did this we would have our posts removed and/or a ban!

At least by the looks of it you'll have an A35 at the end of it and not a Beetle..

I agree. I like a nice beetle and van but I don't understand the hype. Especially around a pre '55 barndoor, why they're worth >£75k I just don't know. To me they look identical to any other splitty....
