I was sitting in a lovely square in Bruges drinking strong beer, casually browsing the usual WhatsApp group when it was mentioned this car was up for sale. It’s a familiar car, having been owned by several PH and ex PHers. A few messages and a deal was done.

Here’s r129SL’s thread on it: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

It’s fantastic. Drives really well and attracts a lot of compliments.

There’s a few little things to sort out. But it’s generally lovely. What ride quality!

I now have two w124s, a 190, and a couple of other cars. Oops.

I've always fancied one of these and that interior, in particular, is just gorgeous.

Please let me know when you've finished the little jobs and are ready to move it on.

Would love one of these. Is that late car, early wheels?

That interior alone would make me want to buy it.

Superb, I've always loved the looks of these and it has to be the 320CE. thumbup

I can see the appeal of a 190 too as I loved mine - the W202 C Class that replaced it just wasn't nearly as well built. frown

Both of these drive really well now. It's certainly the best W124 I have driven by a long way.

A good question, no idea. It's a later car. The wheels look great though!

They are the facelift version of the original 15-hole forged (?) wheel.

Glorious car. Such a good colour combination.

The car was of course fine on the 330 miles up to Edinburgh.

It's a very New Town type of car. Looks so good there.

There are not many jobs to do. One of them is the covering for the seatbelt butler which is fragile and cracked.

R129SL (formerly of this parish and now in our new parish) suggested an incredible site www.octoclassic.com who are now reproducing all these plastic parts using 3d printing. After talking to the chap on the site (late on a Sunday), I've ordered both sides - £60 a side which I think is deeply reasonable.

That is pretty reasonable to be fair; that’s what I paid for one from BMW for my 335i.

That colour combination is lovely, especially the interior. I'm intrigued to see this colour listed on the Octoclassic website for the W220 though..

Splendid! Used to enjoy SL's previous ramblings on this, good to see it again and the Octo site useful to know about too. As others have said already, the colour combination is just so!

Beautiful car. Would love a 124, I recently had a much maligned W210 and that drove very well. Regret parting with it. Well, except for the rust...

Sorry if I'm being a bit dim, but what happened to r129sl?
