The other night my new highdays and holidays car arrived, a Ginetta G15. I have been looking for a nice one for a while and this turned up with pretty much the perfect spec for me including;

998cc Shrigley engine
Twin 40s
Sports exhaust

The car has been completely rebuilt over 4 years with many new parts and importantly the chassis sorted.

Here are a couple of pics of it popped into its new home in one of the barns.

With the engine and sports exhaust it sounds absolutely epic on start up.

I am really very pleased with it and it is a real credit to the work that the previous owner did to it. A few little tweaking jobs to sort but nothing important.

That looks like whole lot of fun, and far nicer than many fibreglass cars of the era. Good work.

Very nice. Might be a typo/auto correct, but would that be the engine from a Hillman Imp/Singer? Looks like one.

You are quite correct, the engine and gearbox is Hillman Imp.

One of my favourite cars of all time.
A good few years ago there was a concourse G15 in orange like yours at a car show. The owner was an old chap who was struggling getting in and out of it. He wanted £10k for it.
At that time I didn't have spare £10k. Always regretted that.
Good luck OP looking forward to lots of updates..

I am away for a coup,e of days, will do some more pics when I get home.

Plans? I have half a mind to try some hill climbs and sprints next year, not something that I have done before but could be a lot of fun.

Nice one, owned a Clan back in the 80's often fancied a G15, not sure I'd get in or out now. (Not practical in a Clan any more).

I have a work colleague 20 years my senior and ready for retirement.

He owned many iconic cars "in period" including an Elan, RS2000 etc...

I respect his opinion more than many.

The one car he regularly has nostalgia for is his old G15. Says a lot that.

Brilliant to see. Thanks for posting.

Always loved these but never got around to owning one unfortunately, when I was young I couldn't afford one and now I weigh twice as much I don't think the lightweight/small (but great) engine combo would work for me.

I bet you will have loads of fun in it thumbup

Look on YouTube - he (Andy Jones ?) has a channel on there which is quite interesting about engine building - Imp engines obviously - but interesting from an engineering/engine building point of view.

Beautiful.

I know Andy at Shrigley very well, raced against him many times (me in a Ford, him in an Imp). As far as I am aware, he is known as the best Imp engine builder, and he’s also bloody quick and a really nice guy.

Been out in the barn pottering and waiting for warmer and drier weather. The car is sounding sweet as a nut.
