Moved the Lambo on to be more sensible and invest in property, but I need something for the weekend and saw this low-miler on eBay a while back so I had to have it.

For those who followed the Gallardo thread, I mentioned my late friend Broon being the catalyst for me getting one. Well, he had one of these when he passed away so it's very fitting that I'm in one now.

I'll update the thread once I get a chance to take some decent photos and I'll make a list of jobs I need to do on it.

I thought S3 were modern, that looks pretty old! Tell us about it is it a 5 pot 2 litre or what. Fwd? (I know nothing)

Six cylinder, 4wd if I remember rightly. Mate had one back in the day. We were jealous.

1.8T 20 valve 4 cylinder haldex 4wd.

Bizarre that people think a 2002 car is old laugh

Looks quite clean that p4cks, looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Well I suppose it's still a VAG product!

It looks smart in that colour and should be fun. I had a 2000 Seat Leon Cupra with the same engine and it felt quick at the time although it sometimes struggled for grip when give some welly, but 4WD ought to make quite a difference.

I just hope you don't miss the Gallardo too much.

Nice car Op, I'll be following with interest. I feel old now too.

A whopping 210bhp at launch, increasing to 225bhp around the time of yours, which I reckon is a 225 going by the door handles and rear lights lenses, without a pic of the steering wheel to give it away.

Back in the days when Audi would let you have a colourful interior without the cost of going Exclusive. Remember the yellow or blue alcantara?

Never a 6 cylinder S3, they did a 3.2 V6 but wasn’t an S3.

Great S3 and still look well.

Nice S3 @ p4cks

I also own a Nogaro S3, I retrofitted the blue alcantara from the previous 'panda' interior.

Rare sight on the roads nowadays, the Brembo 4 pots from Cupra R are a straight swap with bigger discs as the originals are pretty pants.

Lovely cars, hope you enjoy it

We have an Imola yellow 225 one with the yellow and black seats sitting with a bluetooth selector fork on 1st and 2nd gears, that I really should put on the lift and get going again. Always wanted to throw a bit more power at it.

You should have a look at poppopbangbang's Boxster thread. IIRC the 1.8 20v he's put in there is making very big numbers!

Thanks gents, it's a really nice example already and just enough jobs left for me to do to get it immaculate.

Plans are:
new key shells
clean interior leather
refurb wheels
refurb brake calipers
new interior AC switches
new interior headlight switch
new floor mats
headlight polish
exterior machine polish
restore exterior plastics
restore bumper plastic
engine bay detail
original dealer plates

Here's some photos from the for sale ad:

I had an S3 of this era, brand new in 2002.
Quattro, 225 hp, later Superchipped to 280

Mine was Pearlescent Merlin, purple, with 18 RS4 style alloys and a very light grey leather interior.
Loved that car. Moved it on in favour of a more expensive to run E39 wagon . rolleyes

ETA: pics, of poor quality…BlackBerry used, probably

When I put it up for sale in June 2006 …

They always were smart looking cars, that looks great.

The survival rates of tidy unmolested S3s must be absolutely tiny; I can't remember the last time I saw one that wasn't a chav modded smoking heap.

Always loved these!

They just look ‘right’ best colour IMO.

I’m finding it hard to believe the S3 was only 2 years old when your Gallardo was registered!

I like these a lot. Never warmed to any of the subsequent versions. Any sign of rust on the doors around/behind the mouldings
or have they already been repaired?

Remember a mate getting one of these in period, he tried an S3 and a Golf 4Motion, Golf didnt do much for him but the S3 he bought, I remember trying to follow him in my MK2 Golf GTI, that extra 100 bhp was quite noticeable biggrin
