Audi 80 RT10 Super Touring Recreation
Discussion
Having grown up playing TOCA Touring Cars on the PlayStation 1, I have always have a soft spot for 90s and 00s touring cars.
When browsing Facebook Marketplace one night for some engine swap candidates for my RaceTaxi ( https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... ), my attention was turned to a rather colourful Audi.
What started life as a humble Audi 80 E had been (visually) converted into a full RT10 recreation.
I was absolutely transfixed.
I've got no use of a touring car recreation, nowhere to store it, no real mechanical ability to maintain it, but would I do have is an impulsive desire to buy anything I think is rather entertaining.
Here it is in all of its glory

Hard to believe it started life as a humble motorway muncher

Regarding the change of number plate, the grandson of the original owner asked to keep the original plate for sentimental value.
The visual transformation was done by two guys Stuart and Lee from Area 22 Designs. They handbuilt the body kit panels, designed and fitted the decals themselves. The quality of work is top notch, and looks the part. Lee drives round in a rather epic Volvo 850 replica.
At the moment, it has had a little tweak to the exhaust, but no real engine work to it, so doesn't yet drive as the original would. We can't be having that!
I'm popping into my local friendly mechanics to get their views on how we can build this into a full touring car spec, 2 litre, non-turbo, 300bhp monster.
If you see me on the roads do give me a wave, I can't imagine there will be too many others plodding around!

https://www.motorgeek.com/forums/projects.6/ is a decent site albeit mainly US content. Might provide some ideas.

Some awesome builds on there. There is quite a good scene for 90s Audi mods, so I'm hoping it should be a relatively straightforward project
Stopped off at a farm shop when driving round earlier - very handy to have a picnic table on the back.
Both of them together:
