911 991.2 Turbo S cab, my boyhood dream car .
Discussion
When I was a nipper I had a Scalextric set with a pair of Porsche 911 Turbos (silver and gold) and I always liked the shape of them. Started collecting Porsche dinky cars too and the only car poster I ever had on my wall was a 911 Turbo.
Bought my first Porsche ( Boxster 986 2.7] about 20 years ago (I’m 56 now), loved how it drove and added a 911 997 about 10 years ago.
Retired the Boxster 3 years ago and bought a mint sapphire blue 981 Boxster GTS, and last year got a Macan Turbo PP to use as a daily.
So that was me sorted for the foreseeable, right? Nah.
I still kept an eye on 991 Turbo S cabs in the classifieds but the problem was they were mostly in black, white or grey, and I firmly believe sports cars should be in bright colours, and besides I couldn’t really justify spending circa 100k on a *wifequote* “tin box with 4 wheels.”
But about 6 weeks ago this popped up and we loved the colour and interior, so I contacted Porsche Solihull and over a few days we did the deal with the Boxster GTS as a trade in. Got about 8k off, although I’d honestly have paid list as it’s probably a 1 of 1 car, and loaded with just about everything in extras, including colour matched keys (£390 option eek).
Picked it up a month ago, done 800 miles in it and I’m smitten; it’s ludicrously quick but very planted, but so compliant pootling around town.
So here it is: 27k, Mexico Blue PTS, espresso and cognac extended leather, and just about every other box ticked.

The every day, mega fast cruise missile.
They really are a do everything car. I m a bit north of you in Lancashire and a couple of weeks ago one sunny afternoon we did 130 very fast miles on the twisty but fast roads north of us, then the missus picked our granddaughters up from school with the top down, which they both loved. The every day, mega fast cruise missile.
Thanks for the comments, all.
Lunar, absolutely love the colour combo of yours.
Andy, I believe that Miami is a tad lighter.
One thing that’s always puzzled me is that the Turbo S has never been really been regarded as a supercar, which I find a bit odd given that it’s as quick or quicker than pretty much anything Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren have to offer.
Has the hive mind of the forum any theories why this is?

I think it's because there are the standard 911 models which while a bit special, wouldn't be considered supercars. They're fast but not ridicuously so. And they're so reliable and usable that people use them every day. So people are used to seeing them around, unlike the Ferraris and Lambotghinis of this world. But I live about a mile from Maranello Concessionaires in Egham, so I see lots of Ferraris every day, both being driven and at the dealership. So a Ferrari doesn't feel like a supercar either to me.Mick Dastardly said:

Two weeks ago there was a discussion about this on the Chris Harris and Friends podcast and I think that the most convincing hypothesis for me is that it isn’t a distinct model in its own right to claim the supercar attention grabbing reputation, whereas the top of the range distinct models tend to be. The point for you, though, is that you’ve achieved a dream that you’ve had for years and will enjoy it for you and not for pretending to be James Bond or whatever else might come to mind in the eyes of observers!Lunar, absolutely love the colour combo of yours.

What a fabulous colour and spec. More photos would be good, roof down please.
Call it whatever you want, it's your car...I always thought thought Turbos were super cars you could use on a daily basis, for whatever that is worth. I wonder how many of those arguing the supercar label are driving mundane metal and are just jealous

£8K off from an OPC, you must be a good negotiator!!!
Dunno about good, but I’ve always loved negotiating business deals. The 911 was at 105, I had my BGTS to trade in so my own cost to change in my head was 60 grand.
The offered me 35 so cost would be 70, so I said we’re miles apart and GLWTS.
Sales manager rang me back (I was in a villa in Lanzarote), and after some tooing and froing we settled on 37 trade in and 99 for the Turbo, so 62 cost to change. Oh and they also threw in 2 new front tyres, 35 months Porsche warranty and a goodie bag of overpriced tat.
Got the feeling I could have squeezed them harder, but they were nice chaps and I didn’t want to lose my perfect spec car.
Piss poor Interior pics from this afternoon:
