For years I ve longed for a genuine RS marque but I ve always been hindered by real life and/or the previous versions have rocketed in value and gone out of reach.

Since the first release of the Mk3 RS I wanted one.. once again real life made it difficult especially in recent years so I was resisting the plunge. Telling myself that doing something so frivolous just wasn t the right thing do, that money could be better utilised elsewhere (aka being a grown up)

My Mk3 ST was great and it was modified to make it more RS like but as Piston Heads said on my previous post, it will only ever be an ST. So I went onto my Auto Trader short list and the one I d picked out earlier in the week was still available I stopped thinking and just did!!!

So after a 3 hour drive from Rochester to Gloucester here it is.
Finally at the age of 41 I am an RS Owner.

Delightful, congratulations!

I went through the exact battle with my conscience over such a frivolous purchase, I still am to be honest, but you only live once right?

i'm waiting for confirmation mine is ready to collect, I went for a less signature colour because I'm keen to blend in but there's no denying how great they look in nitrous blue, especially when the sun highlights the metallic flake.

It's been interesting being turned away by insurance companies despite being an older chap with a good record, it reminds me of being 17 again biglaugh

That looks fantastic; superb colour too... cool

Do you think you'll keep the wheels black; or maybe go for an anthracite grey or similar so that their details stand out more?

I’ll leave them for now I think, they’re Revo Flow formed wheels with Michelin Cup2 tyres. I may look to keep these for track use and get another set of wheels.

Wondering what a set of Gold Compomotive’s would look like.

I had high hopes for them too but I guess things just didn't align for me as a risk, they were twice as expensive as other places but it feels like being in the RSOC and having a year of ownership might pay dividends next time.

Weirdly modded cars sometimes seem cheaper to insure than the standard ones.

You obviously came from the modded ST, I've been in the automotive wilderness with my MR2 biglaugh

Ah that's fair enough; I'm just personally not a fan of gloss black wheels... Satin black, IMO, looks much better; much easier to keep clean too smile Exsactly what I have on the F31:

And re gold; not sure... I think the wrong blue to pull it off, but maybe a satin gold, or bronze? Compomotive's would look mega though
