997 - engine almost fell out!
Discussion
Good evening all
Had my 997 for several years now and have included it in a few previous threads....
I tend to do all my own repair work and servicing.........alas, after a quick blast out today, i need to do sone more!!

Drove to my local cars/coffee place to watch the F1....felt a couple of odd knocks through the drivetrain. Pulled up to find the engine hanging out!
Right side mount completely sheared!

New mounts ordered - car now safely back in my garage with a jack underneath......

Also managed to damage the lambda wire as now have 02 fault.....the joys!

Wow, not heard of engines (nearly) falling out of cars since the Lancia Beta.
Glad you've been able to recover it. I guess the gearbox has been rotated in the dropped position, but likely ok as designed to allow for suspension/etc angles changing..
I suppose the other question is whether there's any inspection or preventative replacement that you / your garage might be do to catch this sort of thing earlier next time?
I guess that cretinous plate gets changed most years for the MOT.
Except 2023.
Repair immediately (major defects):
Front Registration plate does not conform to the specified requirements wrong spacing (0.1 (d))
Rear Registration plate does not conform to the specified requirements wrong spacing (0.1 (d))
Except 2023.

Good news is Ive managed to wind the old stud out and take the broken mount out. New ones (both sides) arriving tomorrow - a doddle to fit
Need a new 02 sensor for bank 2 as the wiring as stretched and thrown a code.....hopefully nothing more
