Alfa 145 Cloverleaf Master Key Problem

Hello,
Anyone out there with an Alfa 145 Cloverleaf having the same problem as me? I found out last night that the only red key that I've got isn't the Master Control Key like I thought it was. I've phoned the local Alfa dealer and they say that I need new locks, key code box and ECU, all of which adds up to about a grands worth of work. Are there any ways round it or am I going to have to stump up a bag of sand. HELP

Surely you can get the parts from a breakers for a couple of hundred. Or buy a replacement cloverleaf for about £1800 and use your current one for spares.
