well I did hehe

The story!

Right, I went to the Pageant of Power thing in Cheshire over the weekend and was working on a trade stand. Unfortunatly, the field was just mud. And I mean really big, deep, thick horrible mud. Despite my best efforts, I kept losing traction which sent mud everywhere. I put my clutch down each time it did it but mud still went EVERYWHERE.

So, here is what the car looked like when I got to my girlfriends on Sunday.

Then after (in this order) a hosepipe wash, a powerjet wash, a sponge wash, a hosepipe wash (to clear the rinse the sponge wash), a clay bar, anohter hosepipe wash, another sponges wash, another hosepipe wash, another clay bar, a T-Cut and a polish it looked like this:

Well worth the six on hours I spent and the arm ache etc. It looks brilliant. Also had to do the interior as well.

So yeah, it is no longer pink biggrin

Well done for having the discipline to keep at it for 6 hours, I know I couldn't. 30 mins and I'm bored of washing my car.

Yeah, I hate my car looking dirty/scruffy! I take great pride in it to (I know it is only a corsa) which helps me from getting bored hehe

Thanks!

Looks good.thumbup

But why did you feel the need to clay bar it twice?

Did the first one not work?

Brown marks?

Do you mean tar?

If so, some tar and glue remover will work much better than attacking it with a clay bar. smile

No, it was mud that had dried and stuck to the paint like glue. It served a power jet wash thing. That is how stuck on it was! Should have really attacked it on Sunday night whilst it was still wet.

Each to there own I suppose! I like it to look good and take a lot of pride in my car! Would do the same weather it was a Fiesta or F355.

Dont "back to black" the wheel arch trims ! There is a much better solution if you're brave enough.

Use a hot air paint stripper gun thingy to blow hot air onto the plastic and simply watch it turn black as new before your eyes. You need to be careful you dont waft the hot air onto the paintwork but it really does work. I was dubious to start with but the end result on our corsa shed was remarkable.

I also use ASDA black shoe cleaner to keep them looking good. Its in a gold bottle and has an in-built spounge at the top.

Having used the hot air trick 2 years ago, it requires a 6 monthly top-up with the black shoe shine.
