After owning a Mk1 Mr2 V6 for a good while now, we've decided to update the chassis and the engine.
Bought for not a lot of cash, this is Black Bob Jnr.

62K on the clock and a 1ZZ engine smoking like a 50's film star.
So over the next month i'll get to work on it and it'll be sporting the following :
1MZ all aloy V6 engine
Mk2 N/A gearbox with LSD and longer Final Drive
Slightly lowered springs
Either an F355 exhaust or an aftermarket Mk3 system, unsure yet.
We've done 3 of these recently and they make a fantastic conversion so when this came up for sale locally it was a no brainer.
Will keep this thread updated as the conversion progresses over the next month. Once the rebuilt engine is in and running then we can make the big decision.....throttle bodies or supercharger?

Fluent ricer
It's a 3.0 V6 from a Toyota Camry. The Mk1 has the cast iron blocked 3VZFE from the earlier camrys.

The Mk3 will have the all alloy 1MZFE, so about 205bhp and 210lb/ft of torque out the tin. The heads will be fettled so hoping for a bit more on top of that.
Undecided what to do with the Mk1 yet but i think it'll be up for sale once i've started the new conversion.

Very nice. Get yourself on MR2-ROC if not already, there's a few V6 conversions knocking around there.
Yes and we built the last 4
Ah no worries Carl, fortunately for us the 1ZZ engines have problems with munching pre-cats and chocolate crankshafts so there's a few Mk3's with "engine problems" that are ripe for sticking a V6 in

Small update, the engine is now fully detailed :

engine bay is almost ready to recieve :

Just need to get the gearbox built up, the flywheel pcd redrilled, the subframe modified and it can be hung in the bay.
And, as per the thread on here, the F355 exhaust it'll be blowing out of. (photoshopped slightly to raise it up into the valance)

seeing that big lump of engine ready to go ion to such a tiny car really makes me want one!!
...is there a dash-transplant too? it's the only thing I don't like about the mk3's.
Also, what's the weight difference between the 4-pot and the V6 once it's all installed? does it affect handling substantially?

Dash transplant? You can get an F430 dash if you really want. One of the replica companies makes it.
Weight wise, as it's the all alloy 1MZ lump there's not very much of a change over the 4pot. I'll get it weighed when it's done but it's 950kgs standard. With the new engine, Mk2 gearbox and new exhaust i'm hoping it'll still be under a tonne.
When i was working for Woodsport we built 3 of them and the handling really isn't effected at all. It just goes a helluva lot quicker, still feels as lively as with the standard 1ZZ lump.
Cheers for the compliments folks. Will hopefully get the engine in this week, still need to do some work on the bay to allow access to the oil filler and spark plugs on the front bank.
