Hi everyone.

Two weeks ago I finally bought this, a very tidy Integra Type R. Interestingly it was the first customer vehicle with the 30 chassis (first 29 were crash test or PD vehicles) and 4th engine.

It’s great. Good nic, Vtec healthy as ever.

I knew little about these before purchase, and learning fast. I want someone in the know, close to Leicester or Northampton to give it a full once over so I can replace anything that needs doing. It drives spot on (I think) but never driven another one!

The mods are all reversible due to standard parts coming with the car.

I plan to keep it as standard as possible. Its garaged and on a limited mileage policy to help preserve this little bit of Honda history.

If anyone has any tips and advise I'd gladly listen, I want to do all I can to keep it as mint as possible!

Looks a very clean car,

why do some tegs have the round lights and some are square?

Brilliant cars, I had number 0092.

My only gripe with it was the high revs at motorway speeds, apart from that I loved it!

Have you considered changing the wheels for the 16' JDM wheels, they look fantastic imo!

I'd also put the proper lightweight wheels back on it myself.

Fitting the standard wheels and tyres will reduce overall grip levels slightly, however, its amazing what the car can do on modest rubber. On the RE010 Bridgestones (the tyre the car was developed on), it'll feel wonderfully agile, adjustable and '4 wheel driftable'. It also will be very neutral with massively reduced understeer. Mine was fitted with S02 b'stones when I bought it, and the swap to the stiffer sidewall of the RE0101s made the world of difference.

Wonderful, attainable, focussed motoring. Miss mine.

Look after No1.

Trouble is, they are no longer available. frown

Oh frown

ignore that then ^

I imagine that a similar stiff sidewalled tyre on the 15"ers would still give the best 'feel'.

www.itr-dc2.com will point the way no doubt.

Registered in Reading DVLA I think. The reg nº is not far from my old one. Do you know who the original dealer was?

Agree, the original exhaust looks less 'chav'. Still my favourite car ever (I had a T-reg UK model with projector lamps). Has it got the CD player under the passenger seat (mine did)? That was pants as well - remove it.

the exhaust isn't totally to my liking but will keep it on for the time being. If it isn't broke don't fix it is my new attitude (see other thread!).

It does, however, sound quite fantastic.

First invoice at 6,000 miles was from August Motors in Sailsbury.

I believe it was owned by Honda first.

Japs had the option to take off ABS, clock, stereo, AC, mud flaps.
Japs have the square lights and the engine has like 2 brake more power. They also had it two years earlier.

Three types of ITR in the uk:

96 spec Jap import.
98 spec Jap import.
98 spec UK spec. - This is OP's car.

Differnces between 96 + 98:

Wheels went from 4stud to five.
Rear bumper different - lower bar added.
About 4 brake more.
282mm disks + calipers (common upgrade for 96 spec).
Erm couple of other bits i've forgotton.

Amazing cars though. Miss my 96 like you wouldn't believe.

Good luck chap - take care of #1
