Subaru Forester STI
Discussion
I've been a long term lurker on here but thought it was time to start bringing my post count up a bit!
I bought this 2 years ago as a family wagon for transporting 2 children and all the associated junk around. I wanted something that would be fun when I was out on my own but practical enough to use everyday.
Specs include; 330 bhp, 4 wheel drive, 5 seconds 0-60, Brembo brakes, STI bucket seats and a very plastic interior!
More info here http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/subaru_06forest...
Only available as an import so the chances of seeing another on the road are slim. I've kept it as standard on the outside to try and maintain a bit of a sleeper look and made some sensible mods to the engine with the air filters and exhaust helping the remap it gets for UK fuels.
Not everyones cup of tea and hardly a pretty looking car but really good fun to drive and can suprise more expensive machinery!

I have been thinking about what car I would like with a few years NCB. The car I had in mind need to be fast, have a big boot but also be discreet.
This fits the bill perfectly.
What is like on the motorway?

check out the 5thgear track vid... VBH certainly enjoys it...
Anyone know if the Japanese get the new shape Forester in STI flavour? All we get is the sodding diesel and some turbo-less petrol!
Not as far as I can see from the Subaru Japan website, though the R1 looks quite cool...Anyone know if the Japanese get the new shape Forester in STI flavour? All we get is the sodding diesel and some turbo-less petrol!

Looks good, do you have any pics of the boot space and also what sort of MPG are you getting?
Not a picture of mine but an identical one in black...
The boot floor has lots of hidden compartments.
I'm getting around 25 MPG but that drops like a stone when I'm not so careful! 300 miles to a tank of £50 SUL.
Lovely car. I have a B5 S4 avant in blue also, 330hp (remapped), estate, big boot, 6 speed manual, etc etc. Probably very similar cars in terms of size, space and performance (and consumption
). Bet it's great fun. I wouldn't swap my car for anything but I must admit I did look at the Subaru Legacy and Forester estates for a while!
Also, I saw one of these and work just the other day, looks identical.

We did consider an S4 when I was looking at buying this, as you said - very similar. Someone at work has a B5 RS4 in grey and it looks amazing. I think the S4 would be far more comfortable for long journeys, the ride on ours is really harsh for just running around town. It really comes alive when you push it though

That looks fantastic. I've always loved the Forester - I was lucky enough to have a go in a Turbo / XT a couple of years ago. The high driving position and made the sense of speed much more dramatic than in the Impreza. Other drivers didn't expect it to be quite as quick either.
Is a turbo / STI version of the latest model still produced in Japan or are quick Foresters no more?

a Turkish colleague of mine has a new shape, petrol turbo, which you cant get in the UK i believe. He has had 7 Foresters now iirc, and he likes the new one, but not as much as his old shape one... The new one is a bit more roly poly, but still a nice car....
