I hope more than a 1.1 engine. If so we need lots more details and pics.

Looked like this when I bought it about 7 yrs ago - £650 back then. The bloke selling it had done the wings and sills but the former have had to be replaced again this time round. It was completely standard, with the wheezy 1.1 lump and 4 speed box.

I did all the suspension work and had the engine/box fitted. It is on its 3rd 1600 engine if I remember correctly. I stripped it out and fitted a full cage and buckets, then sold it after about 2 years of ownership, to a guy in Darlington.

Earlier this year I was looking at mk2s on ebay and came across my old car, this time in Essex. Within 10 mins I'd placed a deposit over the phone without even seeing it in the metal. It got delivered that weekend and had hardly changed since, though a few rusty bits had got worse.

The bodyshop had to chop out some holed metal and weld in fresh bits (worst bit was the C pillar but loads of scabby bits here and there. Both door skins were shot at the bottom so were reskinned):

Will add some more pics of it as it is now when I have a bit more time.

Would love to see some pics of that. Mine now has the RS1800 stripes on it (though not the RS1800 decals):

The stripes may not to be to everyone's taste but it makes a change from the black Mexico stripes I had on this and another mk2 I once owned.

Eyup chum, are you the same person that attends the Leeds American Cruiser/Gathering type thing on the 2nd Saturday of the month?

If so, we've spoken before as I was admiring your Escort...if not, it looks VERY similar to one I've drooled over in the past hehe

'Fraid not - did used to do a few shows when I owned it first time round and will do in future, but not been at that one.

As there is a bit of interest I'll post some more pics as work progresses. Thanks for all the positive comments (nice to know seeing as I'm still reeling from the bodyshop bill...).

Ohhh the plot thickens!

Then there's DEFINITELY one in Yorkshire damn near identical barring the stripes..which work for me, but then again, there's not much you could do to ruin in a Mk2 in my eyes

I love it! The RS1800 Stripes work really well with the Riviera Blue thumbup

It'd look great on a set of Blue Superlites wink
