My new MK2 Scirocco GT II

Picked this up last week as a cheap resonably practical run around. It needs a few things sorting like the crap brakes and lumpy tick over.

Is it just me, or does the front bumper have a slight twist in it? Looks sort of pointing down on the drivers side... Splitting hairs, I know, overall it looks in great nick. Nice motor!

What engine does it have?

Yeah the bumpers twisted its more noticable in the photos compared to seeing it parked up.

Just need to sort the braking out, untwist the front bumper and make it faster. Its the carbed model and puts out 90bhp to the scala's gti engine which is 110bhp.

Its got so much room in the engine bay its crying for a 16v conversion just dont tell the other half.

Sorry to be a pedant but I'm sure the Scala was also the 90BHP carb motor. It's the GTX that has the GTI motor.

ETA: 112BHP.

No worries, didn't want you hunting down a Scala motor as an upgrade!
Go the 16v if you can, it's a fantastic engine, and good luck.

By the time of the GTII, the Scala had the injection engine. The GTX was discontinued around 1988 and the Scala was given the 1.8i to replace it (not sure if that was as early as 1988 but it may have been). Earlier Scalas did have the 1.8 carb engine though, as you say.

Nice. There's one on another website I go on that's been left outside for around 7 years. The guy wants 250 quid for it and it is low mileage but SEVEN YEARS!!!!????

If it were a Golf of Pug GTI it would be mine already!
