Hello All!

I have been a silent reader for a long time, time for my contribution.

Well after quite a bit of time/graft i have finally finished my car and i will be flying PistonHeads colours on my way to Le Mans this year. smile See you in France?!

1973 VW-Porsche 914/4 2.0L in Phoenix Red (original colour)

1. Taken 3 years ago when bought
2. Engine rebuild 50 miles later...!
3. Fully rebuilt with a large amount of work missed out... MOT next week!
4. Same as above
5. Jager dedcals for Le Mans?

Always wanted one of these, and yours looks fantastic.

Do you have any more pictures of the re-build etc?

Got loads of pics of the rebuild... it might take a while but i will sort the images into a timeline at some point now that i've finished. It is a sorry story of scraping, sanding, welding and a hell of a lot painting.

X plate is an interesting one. This car was first imported to the UK from Germany in 1982 and at that time imports, no matter how old, were given the current plate of the time! Still rolling tax free which is nice!

Here is my inspiration for doing it (belongs to my dad, also imported in '82 ((what coincidence!))):
And a taster of during pics:

Looks great. Really wanted one of these while looking around for my Alfa but just no good ones at the time. That looks very straight, good work.

I've always loved these. Used to see a few of them on the road when I was a lot younger, can't remember when I last saw one.

I prefer it in black though...boxedin

Lovely looking car and the wheels look great!

I've always been fascinated by these, but I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.

I also see a couple of Mogs in the background of one of your pics, are they yours too?

We have many classics stashed away at home, some 30 cars in total. My dad is an avid collector. I think we are up to 7 Moggys now! Mostly a mix of split and non-split convertibles ready for restoration at some point.

Currently in the garage undergoing a restoration after a poor restoration by someone else (As bought... i'll get some pics of its current state later!):

Always had a soft-spot for these, lovely looking cars - much nicer looking than the Boxster!
