Well though i would share my cars with you all, i am sure they will not be everyones cup of tea but i love them. I sold my last car in Febuary this year it was an 03 plate 330ci msport as it just didn't make me smile like it should have (pictures here along with my first car www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=...
I figured if i can not buy what i want when i am 20 (now 21) when can i.
I have now ended up with two cars firstly the daily driver:
It is a 96 Mk3 golf VR6 in mystic blue it had done just under 70K miles when i bought it with an extremly impressive history file.
And now the fun car:
It is a Mk4 escort rs turbo it has done 106K miles but is very solid with only a couple of patches of welding done on the floor all of the usual areas ar solid (fuse box, battery tray, boot floor)

It still needs a few bits done before i will be totaly happy with it, the front bumper and rear spoiler need to be changed from 90 spec to 80 spec and the side repeters need to be orange, basically all the original bits that were not on the car i have managed to get just need to fit them.I love those old RS Turbos, I have been looking at them myslef a lot recently...and great to see one that has not been messed about with by the bodykit boys!

No thats something i have noticed, it feels special to drive and seems to get quite a bit of attention for and old escort, and is much more of an "event" to drive than the 330ci was.

Nope... the Mk3 had diffrent tail lights, a smother front end, diffrent interior, mechanical ABS, amongst other diffrences the Mk3 Rs Turbo was the S1 this is an S2 (Mk4).The S1 were only avalible in white apart from one or two that were made for the royal family in black, Princess Diannas Black S1 Turbo (Mk3) is now held in the Bonkers collection.
My car is on a D plate D being 1986 which makes it the first year of the Series 2 (Mk4) the Series one stopped on C plates.
If one of the more knowledgeblie Rs enthusiasts comes along i am sure the will clear up any incorrect points

Just out of interest, how do you insure them both? I might have the chance to pick up a very cheap Corrado VR6, that needs abit of work doing. But can't get a decent insurance quote because I can't use my NCB twice. Don't really want to let the car go, but don't want to spend £1300 insuring it when I can spend £800 to insure an E30 325i. 21 yrs old aswell like you.

Very nice, both of them.
If I were you though, with the RS I'd get the spotlamps back, standard steering wheel, rear badging and remove the mudflaps.
Edited for speeling but whilst I'm here a nice pair of Cibie lamps with white covers instead of the lame originals would be a nice touch.
