So my first car was a Corsa 1.2 SXi on a W, all standard lovely motor. Might be nothing compared to what's on here, but it served me well for my first 4 years driving. Some of you may disagree with the aftermarket headlights, but I like them wink

So here I am, 21, just finished university and in need of a car for commuting as I think the Corsa being 10 years old and 75k miles will probably give up the ghost after a few months hard work!

Decided to dip into my inheritance from my Grandparents, but instead of going nuts and buying something completely mad and burning all my money I think I've made a nice sensible, yet still relatively fun choice, and kept some inheritance for a house/flat in the future!

So enough jabbering, some photos!

Feels nice to drive, doesn't have the painfully light steering I was expecting (after experiencing some newer Puntos etc from friends) and it actually has a fairly weighty good feel to it. Surprisingly nippy, as it's 100bhp pretty much and similar torque, and also has this overboost function in 2nd/3rd/4th where if you floor the throttle you get a minute or 30 seconds or something of 5bhp extra and 7ft-lbs. Pretty cool!

Congratulations and yes quite sensible.

I don't think they weigh that much do they, so 100 bhp should be good fun.

So yeah it feels nippy enough. Not gonna set anything on fire ofcourse, but it's definitely enough to please me biggrin

Yes I lived in Cardiff whilst at uni, it went up there from time to time so you may have spotted it around! Usually when they have the angel eyes they got bodykits and drainpipes hanging out the back too though...

I really rate those cars. I was driving from Preston to Newcastle in a hire car one day across the A686 and one of these caught me very quickly so i had to slow and left indicate to let the chap past - he was certainly pressing on a bit! (This was way before the 133 came out by the way so must have been a GT).

Seems like a great choice smile

Afraid not mate wink That Corsa is only gonna really be spotted in South Wales. The Angel Eyes are quite a popular mod amongst the max power people, but usually goes hand in hand with the aforementioned body kit and drain pipes lol.

In relation to some of the other comments it does feel nippy enough. 60 in between 9.5 and 10 seconds, and a top whack of 117mph, not to be sniffed at IMO.

This was mine in 2008/58... Twingo GT 1.2 TCE, sound pack, panoramic electric glass roof, 16" Speedline Turini wheels, Renault 'Grey Shadow' decals, Pearl Black metallic. A bit over the top, but I was only 18 at the time.

Part Ex'd the GT in 2009/09 for a Twingo Renault Sport 133, sound pack, bluetooth, Renault Sport handbrake/gearstick, bucket seats, 16" Renault Sport wheels, Mirage Grey metallic - this time looking a tad more refined.

Hope you enjoy your Twingo as much as I enjoyed both of mine.

I like the RS in that grey colour, that was my first choice, followed by the dark blue or black. But, due to me needing a new car asap, when I ordered my 133 they had 2 in red ready to go straight away and I could have had it within the week, so I went for red. Don't get me wrong, I love the car in red and think it looks great, but it wasn't my first choice. They look great in all colours.

Where in Cardiff are you, OP? I am from Porthcawl, but I work in Cardiff and my car is parked on Riverside in the day, not that I'm inviting the car thieves, mind!!!

How did you find the difference between the two? I imagine the extra 30bhp is welcome, but is the ride/handling much firmer? I might be looking to do a similar trade in as you did a few years down the line...

Well this is a bit bizarre. I was on Richmond Road (right near 'death junction' crwys/albany/city/richmond road junction) but as I've graduated uni I've moved home. Which is Porthcawl!

Well the Corsa has gone and the Twingo has arrived this evening.

Sad to say goodbye but the Twingo is lovely. Getting used to everything and fiddling with all the new controls. I have electric windows for crying out loud! biggrin

Had the awful decals removed from the side, looks much better for it.

Also when removing a small dent from the back (I couldn't see it in the first place) the garage buffed over the Twingo sign on the back and scraped some of the silver off, so they've removed the badge. They have a replacement one for me if I want it, but it actually looks good with no badge! So might keep it that way.

Pics in the morning!

Looking forward to the pics. I'll have a drive past later, have a gander. Must be so much a better drive than the Corsa though

I'm sure it will be more capable once I'm used to it, but I currently don't feel as confident with it, it feels more disconnected from the road. I really do put that down to being used to the Corsa though. It's definitely quicker in any gear from any point in the rev range. It does seem to grip well as well, not that I'm ever gonna find out how much it does grip! biggrin

Looking nice and clean! Looking good, too. I think that cars can feel different for a while, as you say, until you get used to their characteristics. You need to mould it around your driving style!!

Definitely getting more used to it now, still surprising how it pulls in any gear though.

Also, it started raining today, car beat me to turning on the wipers. I've got auto wipers! biggrinbiggrin

I had auto wipers in my Megane, but my 133 is a Cup so hasn't got them. Wasn't mad keen on them anyway, thought they were a bit all-or-nothing really

I think they must've improved them. It was rather light rain and they came on intermittent. Then there was slightly heavier shower and they turned onto a slow speed. Then it backed off and they went to intermittent again. Very impressed so far.
